I have noticed, if i load the porter after an other plane , i have 45 frames/sec in outside view.
If i change to cockpit view, the frames drops down to 15 frames/sec and after changing to outside view it stays at 15 frames.
I have deleted the real light entries in the panel.cfg for testing and
got now 40 frames/sec inside and out the porter.
So i think, it must have someting to do with "true glass" feature .
Thanks! I’ll give this a try.
Update — nope! Tried both removing the references from the panel.cfg and then also did a fresh install and opted not to include TrueGlass and RealLight. Still getting less than 8FPS. I’m not saying I get blistering performance, but I’ve NEVER had this issue with any installed aircraft or scenery. If I can operate highly complex aircraft with many systems running with full weather, scenery, etc, I feel like the Porter on a default airport with no weather on and settings turned way down shouldn’t be the impossible challenge. Do you think MilViz can do anything or am I just out of luck?

This worked for me. I deleted about 15 references to True Glass and Real Light and my frames are through the roof. As nice as those features are, I can live without them if it means better frames.

The framerate killer for me, was the 4096 pix textures
from RealLight.( 1.05 gb)
I have reduced their size to 2048 pix ( 285mb ) and changed the RL
panel.cfg settings to 1024,1024 and the entries in the
RealLight.xml gauge to 2048,2048 like in the Turbo Otter.
Now i have smooth 45frames inside and outside of the porter
with the RealLight Feature.

@doodlebug
Hello,
many of us have problems with the frame rate with the Pilatus. I personally don't go over 20 fps. I tried to reinstall the product by removing both True Glass and Real Lights from the installation, but the problem remains. Can you tell me if there is a support forum? can you tell me if Milviz is aware of the Problem? can you tell me if they are trying to solve it? I ask you these questions because it is really frustrating to fly at 20 frames on a new plane paid around $ 40

thank you

Okay, i give up,
Yesterday all went well, after reducing the textures
etc. pp . i have had 45 frames/sec with the porter.
Today i load the Porter and don't get over 12 frames/sec
outside and 10 inside.Very frustrating.
In this condition, this really great plane is not flyable for me. :(

For all those who have frame rate issues, please post your computer specs, including CPU type, OS, graphics card (include ram amount), ram, etc.

Thanks

My Specs:

Windows 10 Home
INTEL I7-7700K
16 Gb of RAM
Nvidia 970 GTX
Prepar3D v 4.5 HF1

Look ... I have many planes that are more or less heavy (PMDG, ATR, SSW Tornado, etc.), and I don't have these problems.
Sorry if I tell you this but I don't think it's a good policy to ask your customers what kind of car we run your plane on. If you believe it's a hardware problem of mine and you CAN'T fix it, you or Milviz, then tell me how to do the product rufund. Among other things, I noticed that the Gauges were created with FSPanel ... now obsolete software

I await answers and clarifications on the matter, including the possible Refund ... thank you very much

Where exactly do you make these changes? Willing to give it another try today.

Also only getting 8-10 fps with the Porter:

I5 2500K @ 4.2 ghz
GTX 980 - 4 gb Vram
16 gb ram
Windows 7 64-bit Home Premium
Monitor 1080p-60hz

Using MSI's Afterburner to monitor CPU and GPU usage while flying the Porter, I can see what's happening. With other planes, my CPU is
averaging around 90% use (all four cores), while the video card is averaging 40% use and using 3 gb of Vram. But with the Porter, it's
reversed: my CPU is only averaging about 50% use (even Core 1, which normally runs at 100%), while the video card is averaging 100% use
and using all 4 gb of Vram.

The Porter's required specs say you need a video card with 4 gb of Vram, but I wonder if even 6 gb of Vram would be enough. Note my
monitor is only a 1080p-60 hz, so it's not that demanding compared to some resolutions and refresh rates out there.

I've tried some of the suggestions above, but nothing seems to much reduce the load on my GPU when flying the Porter, including loading
the Porter with RealLight and TrueGlass boxes unchecked.

Hopefully there's a solution.

I am still having relatively low frame rates although changing the Real Glass textures helped. My system specs are in my signature.

I also want to say that this is a fantastic product and probably the best depiction of a PT6 out there. Even with the low frame rates, I am still flying the thing. I hope there is a solution for the low frames but if there isn't I will still find a way to fly it.

FS Panel Studio is old for sure, but it is certainly not "obsolete". For the record, FSPS doesn't create gauges; it mostly allows visual placement of gauges in the panel.cfg file. For this purpose it still works very well!

Gauges are created with MS Visual Studio (C++/GDI+/D2D, or XML scripting. :ugeek:
