Low Frame Rate
I am getting a consistently low framerate in this product. Sitting on the runway with default scenery and no weather the plane gets 15 FPS. The same conditions with the Turbo Otter gets 30+FPS. It makes no difference if I enable Real Glass or not. Is this normal for the product?

Re: Low Frame Rate
Hi David,
I'm running a quite old hardware setup and the recent developments in the direction of PBR enabled stuff can be really a hard hit but I did not encounter that problem with the Porter that much. For sure losing about 10-15 frames but still ok. Did you play around with Dynamic Lighting and Dynamic Reflections on and off and graphic settings if it makes a difference?
Cheers

Re: Low Frame Rate
Yes, I actually disabled dynamic lighting and reflections completely and it didn’t make a difference. I’ve also tried an uninstall/reinstall but didn’t change anything. I’m pretty sure it’s either something on my particular system or something wrong with the how I installed it but I am not sure what to try next. Oh, and I’m completely up to date with P3D.

Re: Low Frame Rate
Go to your Prepar3D .exe
, right click and under compatibility, disable full screen optimization.
Let us know if that helps.

No, unfortunately it didn’t. Also, I’m running the program as administrator

Re: Low Frame Rate
After going back and looking at the system requirements, I realized that the Porter requires 4GB of video card memory and the Turbo Otter only requires 1GB. I am currently running 2GB. Looks like I'll need to upgrade my video card to get the same performance. Sorry to make an issue out of it, I didn't realize system requirements had made such a large leap.

Re: Low Frame Rate
I have also poor frame rates with the porter and had a look at the content error report after shut down the sim.
There are some errors with the gauges and a few missing textures.
Two textures ( i think prop textures have no specific names only .dds )
and the error = Error loading XMLTools64.dll: The specified resource type was not found in the image file.
( my P3Dv4.5 isn't on C drive installed )
That could be the culprits for bad frame rates.

Do not pay much attention to the content log. Almost all errors are related to issues that don't affect simulation's performance.
And the error = Error loading XMLTools64.dll means nothing as XMLTools is indeed loaded, otherwise the Porter panel won't work at all.
Poor frames must come from other sources.

Re: Low Frame Rate
Glad to see I’m not alone. My system, while not top of the line, has been able to handle complex sims and scenery fine. Both other MilViz products as well as other high end add-ons. Loaded the Porter today and couldn’t get above 7FPS even after turning almost everything off. Really disappointing.

Re: Low Frame Rate
Hi everyone,
first of all thanks to Milviz for creating this beautiful plane! I've been waiting for it for a long time. I also have frame rate problems. with my current configuration it is the only plane in my P3D that has such low frames. I tried to disable both the true glass and the dynamic lights. unfortunately rest at 20 fps ... thanks to those who will help

Re: Low Frame Rate
I have just tried it as suggested, that is disabling the "disable full screen optimization" option or leaving it enabled, but nothing changes. I always have frames that don't go beyond 20. I noticed one thing though. The frames go down when you load the plane entirely. In my opinion it is the PBR that creates this problem

Re: Low Frame Rate
I have noticed, if i load the porter after an other plane , i have 45 frames/sec in outside view.
If i change to cockpit view, the frames drops down to 15 frames/sec and after changing to outside view it stays at 15 frames.
I have deleted the real light entries in the panel.cfg for testing and
got now 40 frames/sec inside and out the porter.
So i think, it must have someting to do with "true glass" feature .
