issue with elevator trim
Dear all,
I am new in helicopter sim and I wonder if some one can help me
Perhaps I am wrong but I think I have a strange behavior of the elevator trim function.
I have assigned the elevator trim to buttons 3 and 4 of my pro flight yoke system and it seems to be recognised by the software. (it works the same way than keys 1 and 7 of the default configuration)
However, if i actuate the trim when the stick is not released (what is for me the most current case), the stick wobles a litlle bit around its current position but goes back to its standby position when it is released .
if I actuate the trim when the stick is in its standby position , the stick moves and maintain a new position, thats look fine.
but then, if i grab the stick and move it foreward or backward it goes first to the standby position before to reach the position I would like to bring it....and the helicopter jump nose up or down suddenly before to stabilize in the new requested attitude
I fly the version VA1.180309
thanks for help
Didier

Re: issue with elevator trim
I find it pretty exhausting to do longer flights without being able to trim the MD-530.
I really, really want to love MilViz. I keep looking at the Otters and the Beaver, but I fear they'll just be sitting in my hangar, retired because of issues with the model, waiting for fixes, just like the 310Redux and the MD-530. It makes me sad.

Re: issue with elevator trim
You can expect a test module with trim corrections and additional features in the next few days. It will appear here as a replacement for the systems dll, along with instructions.

It should be coming very soon. Need to package it up with an installer is all.

Re: issue with elevator trim
Here's is the link to a new installer that addresses the trim problem and adds a Force Trim option for the 530:
http://www.milviz.com/Online_products/P ... 180709.zip
Also, the missing wire cutters in P3D will now appear.
Please test this out and if all is well this will be the new standard.
To use the new force trim option use the AMS and click on the new "Controls" section for the 530, and assign a key or button to the force trim trigger.
When you are in the cockpit, you must enable the force trim by using the two previously unused switches labelled OVSPD TEST and FAULT TEST. (picture below.) The one on the left turns on the force trim system when in the Up position. The one on the right enables the force trim to work with the rudder too when UP.
With a key assigned in AMS and both switches up, a press on the force trim button will make the current cyclic and rudder petal settings the new center point. Thus as soon as you press force trim, return the joystick (and rudder if you have that switch up) to the neutral position. The helicopter should retain its current trim. You can use force trim as often as you'd like.
In case you are unfamiliar with it: Force Trim is not an autopilot! Be sure the helicopter is in a stable condition when you push the button. If it's rotating or banking, you'll simply lock in that trend and have to fight it. (This is how it really works, it takes some getting used to.)
This can take a great deal of the work out of flying. The real MD530 did not have a force trim, we're adding it as a optional "quality of life" enhancement.

Re: issue with elevator trim
To be clear, if I want to fly the 530 realistically I don't want this update.?

That is correct.

Re: issue with elevator trim
Actually you can ignore the force trim option and still fly realistically. The elevator trim should be fixed in this update.

Re: issue with elevator trim
Now I'm confused. Does the real thing have elevator trim, force trim or any kind of trim. Is this a fantasy feature?

Re: issue with elevator trim
The real thing has a trim hat which can be used to trim for pitch and bank. The Force Trim feature (which is borrowed from the 407), is where you move the cyclic into the desired position and press a button. It will then stay in that position. The latter is what isn't in the real deal.
