Nose wheel steering after landing

Post by Midnight Music » Sun Jan 11, 2015 5:30 pm

I am curious why the 737 nose wheel steering is totally fine in P3D when first taxiing out for take off, but after landing the nose wheel steering is gone and the plane becomes almost impossible to taxi to the terminal. Is there some setting I need make to adjust? Any thoughts will be appreciated.

I have the exact same problem, steering fine when first started, then after a flight on landing no way to steer, not even with the rudder. This is with FSX

I would like to bump this up as I have had this problem consistently since purchasing the license for this
A/C; both FSX and P3D.

The problem is still in existence The steering is gone in both platforms.

Anybody thoughts?

Thank You

I also have this issue with FSX+ acell, when I lower the landing gear I don't get a green light on the nose gear, it is red. and after landing I have no nose wheel steering even though it was fine after start up and taxi out.

Guys,

Can you tell us what Autopilot you are using?

I just did a test flight with the FMS 77 and I do have nose wheel steering and no red light on the nose gear.
Another difference between the two is I have reverse thrust on the FMS/ SP-77 after landing but I don't have reverse thrust on the SP-77
In checking the SP-77 prior to takeoff I can deploy reverse thrust, just not after touchdown.

How fast are you going when you drop the gear?

One of the developers will have to chime in if this is modeled or not but, it's been my experience that I only get this issue if I extend the gear at too high of an airspeed.; Probably worse with the gravel kit but I don't use it.

I now wait until I'm slower and drop the gear at under 175knts and I have not had the issue.

Any update on this issue? Makes no difference which speed or anything else - in P3D 3.3.5 - I have NO steering after landing except differential brake.

Yes and no. I've tried it switching YD off before landing and after landing - no difference. On some occasions, the steering works just fine. I thought it was as mentioned above, related to speed when dropping gear but it has worked when I dropped them at 200+ and also has not worked on some occasions when dropped below 170. I tried reinstalling with no effect.

Autopilot off? I don't think I am using the rudder in it but to cover all bases....

Hmmm I wonder - I'll have to try tomorrow. When I disengage the AP, I just use the command lever and pull it down to off position. I don't believe I manually disengage each button (alt, Nav, etc). I'll try both disengage all buttons and command bar and just command bar and see if there is any difference.

It isn't the auto pilot, it isn't speed, reading the manual, the systems that seem to be out are all on hydraulic system A if I remember correctly. Nose wheel steering, reverse thrust, Two green on the gear (nose gear red) are all recurring problems with this. Perhaps you can disable the failure modeling of the hydraulic systems or something like that, do something! it has been two years. I don't think we could be considered impatient.
