New tire texture

Post by johan.pienaar » Sun Aug 18, 2019 11:08 am

Hi,

Not sure if something went wrong with the installation of the latest patch but the new wheel rubber texture are horrible, just totally black blobs sitting on the wheels. I uninstalled and re-installed the plane as the install program would not run if I do not uninstall first.

Same here, the base wheels are untextured in outside view.
From inside (VC-Views) the rubber is ok.
Tundra wheels are ok too, both in external and internal view.

Hi

It seems that the model file is calling up two missing texture sheets named…

Porter_PC6_ext_02_specular.dds
and
Porter_PC6_ext_02_diffuse.dds

For now you could just make two copies of the existing Porter_PC6_ext_02_albedo.dds file from the MV_PC-6_Base\texture folder and rename one as Porter_PC6_ext_02_specular.dds and the other Porter_PC6_ext_02_diffuse.dds as it seem to only use the tyre part of the texture sheet and then copy them to the following folder...

[drive]:\Lockheed Martin\Prepar3D v4\SimObjects\Airplanes\MV_PC-6_Base\texture

For my own use I have made these two file that have no fuselage details just the tyre texture in them which seems to work OK.

I hope it helps.

Investigating this I do find the maps you had listed as missing in both the sim and installer build folder , its intriguing that they are not in your sim , further the update to the base models regular tires was to adjust the specular shine .

I attached an image of what I see installed from the recent SP

Is a shader program in use , is the sim running in DX9 ? , was a previous texture pack installed from the reduced set ?

Since the first version I save the installation folder every time to compare with the next update. So I can determine which files have really changed.

None of the installation folders from the backup (and the current installation) show these two files.
Porter_PC6_ext_02_specular.dds
Porter_PC6_ext_02_diffuse.dds

They do not exist...

These two files would only be in the FSX version , its was my assumption were discussing that version , I may have been confused here .

Hi

I am running P3D v4.5 without any shader modifications, the earlier model file does not call these two textures up so no issue existed prior to the update, well not at this end anyway and with the new model file and the modified/cheat textures all seems well.

Was there a mess with FSX and P3D PBR Textures?
