737-200 system failure during approach (gear, reverser...)

Hi there,

I have a problem with the 737-200 that occurs on every single flight, in P3Dv3 and P3Dv4.
I don't know what I'm doing wrong but I guess it must be something as it occurs everytime and no one else reported a problem like that so far in any forum.

Problem is: During approach I extend the landing gear (~200 KIAS) by moving the lever from OFF to DN. It extends completely. But the nose gear warning light will remain in red.
After touchdown the reverser won't work. It's like the aircraft is still in air mode and the reverser is therefore blocked.
The next problem is the nose gear steering. The pedals move, the nose gear tilts in external view but the aircraft just won't steer. It keeps moving straight as if the nose gear has absolutely no ground contact or friction.
As mentioned, it is also marked red on the warning light.

What am I doing wrong?

Hi...

First, this needs to be in the 737 support forum.

Second, did you, by any chance, read the manual?

I ask because there’s a section in it about the NWS.

The reverses not working g I’d likely think that you didn’t properly set them up for auto arm. Check the manual for that as well.

Please do not consider my comments above as snide or sarcastic. They’re not.

@KC There isn't an automatic reverse thrust in the 737 although there is an auto deploy speedbrake.

@Max tried pressing F1 before going into reverse? Is your throttle axis sensitivity set to max and the nullzone to 0? That might be what is preventing it from going into reverse. As for the nose gear, I will let N4GIX comment on that.

@KC
Thanks for moving the topic to the correct forum. Somehow I've missed that.
The next part of your answer is unfortunately not helpful at all. Yes, I've read the Manuals, especially the respective chapters about hydraulics, gear and reverser. As I've found no solution for my problem there I've opened this topic.
I can't find anything about Reverser Auto Arm in the manuals. Which manual and chapter are we talking about?

@Jonathan
I've also deactivated my Throttle to remove that as a cause and using F1 and F2 didn't help either.

Did you see the section about the NWS?

I've read the following topics about the NWS:

-Milviz_B7372_Rev_B.pdf
"Gravel Kit Operation Limits and Procedures"

-Instrmnts,%20Pnls%20&%20Ign.pdf
"Hydraulics System Description Chapter 13 Section 20"
"Rudder/Brake Pedals 14.10.7"
"Nose Wheel Steering Wheel 14.10.7"
"Landing Gear Operation 14.20.1"
"Landing Gear Retraction 14.20.1"
"Landing Gear Extension 14.20.1"
"Landing Gear Manual Extension 14.20.2"
"Nose Wheel Steering 14.20.2"

None helped as the tiller doesn't work properly. So what do you mean?

Now as I've found the right forum I can see that I'm not the only one with the problem:

Boeing 732 nosewheel malfunction

Nose wheel steering after landing

So please regard this as a bump for the previously opened and unsolved topics.

May I inquire as to what release version are you using? I fixed the nose wheel steering in the last release, so it should be working.

The latest version should be MilViz_B737-200C v4.180430 (March 30, 2018)

My installer was named "MV_B737-200C_v4.180430.exe" so I guess that's the latest version.

Yes, that is the current version. I'll set aside some time today to take another look at these issues to see what might be going pear-shaped.

Hi, I have upgraded to version 180823 and I’m experiencing issues with lack of NWS after touchdown. Sometimes all gear lights lock green and the NWS works after touchdown, sometimes after a touch and go, the nose wheel light will be red and on the next landing NWS will not work. Other times all three gear lights stay red. Only a new flight fixes this for a while. This seems to happen only after the first landing even though I did not lower the gear until the IAS was under 190kts.

Your thoughts would be appreciated. Cheers Anton

Right after this occurs, any chance you could go into the sim failures menu and see if anything is marked as failed?
