SP 3:Auto Throttle not keeping the speed [resolved]

Post by Macoy » Sun Mar 23, 2014 6:14 pm

Hi,

When I select a speed (say 220kts) and set the speed button and autothrottle knob on, the plane accelerates and then pass the speed marker until it reaches 350knots.

I have the 737 SP3. I don't know what I'm doing wrong.

Thanks.

Are you controlling the auto throttle and speed hold switch from external hardware?

No, but I did load the configurator again before start the fsx and it fixed the problem.

It seems to fix some autopilot problems too. Now I'm going to run the configurator before loading the aircraft in the fsx.

Thanks.

Intriguing.....Shouldn't have to have such an effect but oh well as long as it works.

Hi all,

I'm getting the same behavior on the autothrottle. Was working nice and smooth in SP2 but now with SP3 not working anymore. Both with cockpit only and Saitek AP module. So I would not mark this as resolved already. And I did load the Manager before doing the flight. So no workaround for me.

Cheers

If you unplug your Saitek AP module does it work?

Hi,

no, exactly the same behavior. It accelerates until overspeed while speeding up or goes to stall when speeding down. Worked fine in SP2 before, with and without Saitek panels.

Confirmed.....I have the same behavior and I do not have a Saitek AP. Autothrottle worked well with SP2 but does not work with SP3.

I find this odd because the auto throttle system did not change over the 2 versions. Nor can I replicate it. Speed hold specifically uses the default FSX system since it works without problems. Something is keeping your speed hold from actually turning on. What addons are you running? Are you turning it on by keyboard or by actually clicking the button in the VC?

Hi,

I did some extensive bigger Airport Beta Testing the last days with using the Milviz 732 cause its quite resource hungry and quite hard on the VAS left after a longer flight between two high res Mega Airports ;) All was working fine. The only addon changed was exactly the 732. Delete of the SP2 version and the install of the SP3 version both steps using the installer as supposed. It worked before, now it's broken. I used it before both with hardware buttons and mouse clicks in VC without problems. I will go back to SP2 version and check if its working as a last test and report back.

Cheers

Hi,

just to confirm. Reinstalled SP2 and working fine again. So easy to test:

SP2: on runway, dialing in 250kts, clicking A/T arm and speed, engines spooling up and takoff, AP on, level out at 3000 ft and perfectly holding 250 kts

SP3: on runway, dialing in 250kts, clicking A/T arm and speed, engines spooling up and takoff, AP on, level out at 3000 ft and going straight into overspeed, ignoring the 250kts dialed in.

Cheers

Yep. I tried again today and the autothrottle overspeed (when target speed > IAS) or stall (when target speed < IAS). It's like the Autothrottle can't keep the selected speed. It overshoot or undershoot, but can't keep.

Another problem is that when you select V/S to reach a new altitude. It pitch down ou up violently. stalling or diving the aircraft.

Thanks.

I reinstalled the SP3 and did two short flight using the SP 177 (VOR and DME, Autothrottle from departure to approach, climb to FL310 and descent).

This time it worked without a hitch. The Autothrottle seens to be affected by something external, like config files, or even FSX interfaces etc.

The problem with the autothrottle occured to me 4 times.

Best Regards.

Need to go back to SP2. Autothrottle in SP3 is simply not usable.
