I have just today received an update to the T-38A via MVAMS,
The update to certain MVAMS files failed, due to not running as admin.

What's really troublesome, though, is the fact that all additional repaints have been removed. It's as though the T-38A subdirectory has been emptied before a full reinstall.
This isn't acceptable. I spent a long time downloading and installing some extra repaints, and to have them all removed without warning is very annoying.

What possible excuse can there be for this?

First of all, the updates are full installers, not partial. They are going to overwrite a number of things, including your aircraft cfg (which by itself will remove paints).

Secondly, we have had several occasions where merely trying to overwrite files has failed for various users, so we execute an uninstall and then reinstall in the installer script.

All I can suggest is backup your aircraft cfg and repaints before updating.
