One more throttle/Prop/engine problem

Post by gperben » Mon Oct 14, 2019 11:37 am

Good morning
Having looked for a solution it looks like I am clearly not the only one: no engine start (also nothing using Ctrl+E), no prop/throttle lever action (whereas mixture works fine). Installed the xml.dll file in the base panel folder, no joy.

Does your system meet the sim's requirements? YES
Did you temporarily disable your anti-virus program during the download process? YES
Before installing did you disable UAC. (User Account Control)? YES
Did you install, and are you running the sim as an admin? YES
Before running the sim did you make sure the FSX/P3D directory is off limits to any AV scanning? YES
Does your system have the required distributables? YES
Is your video card DX11 compatible? YES
If applicable, did you disable any FSX to P3D migration tools (like Estonia) before running the sim? YES
Are you using an aircraft other than a Milviz one as your default aircraft? YES
Have you installed in the root sim directory? YES
Do you have the appropriate SimConnect libraries installed? YES

Aircraft: PC-6 for P3Dv4
Sim platform: P3D v.4
Operating system: Win10 64
Version: 190823
Unique ticket identifier: A59F2A08-DD09-473C-0AD1-8F7CD1D3E995

Prepar3d Professional, ActiveSky, Traffic Global, Saitek panels/yoke, CH quadrant, etc. All latest updates installed. Everything works great on Aerosoft's Twin Otter and the other add-on planes except this PC-6.

Help would be very much appreciated.
Thank you.

If it helps the error message I get while trying to set up the PC-6 is:

XMLTools64.dll successfully installed in Prepar3D v4 main folder !!
DLL.XML not found !!. Creating copy...
Cannot create DLL.XML - Folder not found !!
=====================================================
-Wrong User or folder corrupted. DLL.XML was not created.

Press 'Finish' button to exit

Thanks

Hi,

Please edit your P3Dv4 DLL.XML file and add:

<Launch.Addon>
<Name>XMLTools64</Name>
<Disabled>False</Disabled>
<ManualLoad>False</ManualLoad>
<Path>XMLTools64.dll</Path>
<DllStartName>module_init</DllStartName>
<DllStopName>module_deinit</DllStopName>
</Launch.Addon>

To be sure, do a search for DLL.XML in your machine and see if you have more than one for P3D. If so, add the code from above to all of them.

Thanks

Tomas

Thank you Tomas
I did the search for DLL.XML, and added the lines you mentionned. Still no joy. It seems the Prop and Throttle levers get conflicting inputs as they shake a bit on the screen and the CH Quadrant can't control them. The mixture works fine.
And Ctrl+E won't start the engine.
Any idea?
Thank you

I too have a similar issue to this.

The DLL.xml is correct.
I have edited thePC6_controllers.xml as per the manual.
Using the methodology in the manual I can get the throttle control to work roughly ok, but the prop lever is unable to be controlled at all.

The only way I can get any degree of control over the engine levers is through FSUIPC with controllers disabled in P3D.
Even then with FSUIPC calibrations, I can only control the condition lever as I need to. The throttle works correctly above the detent but is either in reverse or not with no graduated fine control possible. The worst control is the prop lever, where I can only get fine control over the entire lever movement using about 20% of controller movement. Above that it is just fully forward regardless of calibration settings in FSUIPC.

Any bright ideas as to where I may be going wrong please? This is a great aircraft but it is unflyable in its present state :(

Thanks K

Hi,

I assume you have more than one joystick/hardware console recognized by P3D. Please check that axis for Throttle/Prop/Mixt are not mapped the same on all your hardware, as that is an usual source of conflict. Also check in FSUIPC that you have a custom profile for the PC6, and there are no conflicts with other mapped aircraft.

Your case is typical of hardware conflict with more than one device; you could try disabling one by one and checking by mapping the levers to the enabled only.

In my case certainly I ways use a custom profile for the aircraft. I have made no other assignments having reinstalled 4.5HF2 recently. During that reinstall I deleted and reinstalled FSUIPC to start with a blank set of control configurations. The only controls set up are my PC6 custom set. I didn't think on that basis my other joystick controller would have an impact, the integrated throttle slider is not mapped to any control and the joystick mappings for ailerons/elevator work fine. I'll try disconnecting it to see the outcome though, stranger things have happened!

See my other post in the thread link below for a short video of the problem....

So no solution so far ? I find the price steep for a static aircraft !

I wouldn't say it's a static aicraft.
The info ready provided had led me to send the prop control input as axis prop control. This has dramatically reduced my engine problems. My throttle remains calibrated through FSUIPC, so I can use reverse.

The only outstanding area of problem is therefore that I can't move the prop control lever to feather.

Still no solution, after close to two months. I am asking for a refund but no one answers my e-mails anymore.
Not exactly impressing.
