Engine stops working suddenly
First: It's a wonderfull airplane and I love it.
But I have a problem. The engine stops working suddenly - like a blow up. So that I only can landing in sailing manner.
This will happening a few moments after starting, but also flying after a while, half an hour for example. There is no warning and no extraordinairy situation. Instruments and engine are working well and showing nothing. And there is no handling of pilot at such a moment.
I would be glad about helping me.

It was like that with me.
Try:
1. After starting the engine, TURN OFF the starter and ignition.
2. After take off, turn off the Aux Fuel Pump
After that (this is a checklist procedure), this problem was solved for me.
Regards,
Aleksey.

I do both in time but no solution of the problem.

It might help to screenshot your engine gauges/lever positions/switches at the time of the event

What does the engine condition bar in MVAMS show?

Re: Engine stops working suddenly
At the last event, after all the MVAMS showed "State good" and green. Status was "cold and dark". But as I remember, it also was after other flights in a less good state-condition.

Re: Engine stops working suddenly
Are you watching the digital readouts on the engine gauges? - if they flash, it means you are pushing the motor over limits.

Hi Oisin, hi Aleksey,
it is like in real live. If jou want to show someone a strange thing, it will not happen. Yesterday I had a fly over about 50 miles without dammage. The pictures show the cockpit whilest the flying and the MVAMS later.
I understand that it isn't good for the engine to overstressed it. At me, it is for example at or after climbing. But the dammage will also happens later during a calm fly without any warning or doing something at cockpit.
When there is a small mistake or a little too much stress, this can not be the reason to even dammage the engine and underbreak the flying. Without any possibility, to repair the situation during the flying.
So I can lose the fun of flying this plane. It's not a good feeling to sit every time on an "ejection seat".
Best regards

Re: Engine stops working suddenly
I have the same experience. Sometimes I can fly hours wihout problems sometimes it stops.
I taxi and fly the aircraft within the limits. Then suddently the motor stops. Sometimes after a long time sometimes after the takeof.
Starting from cold and dark or ready to start does not have influence.
The enginecondition according the mvams is good.
What is going on?
I love this plane but this is frustrating!

I also experience too many engine failures. From my point-of-view the engine failure effect is overdone. If the RW PC-6 turbine would function like this, the manufacturer Pilatus would not have delivered so many PC-6 over the last 58 years! But most of them are still in flying condition!
Request to the Milviz development team: Please tone down the engine failure effects to a more realistic level.

Re: Engine stops working suddenly
Guys,
There is a check you can do right after engine fails:
-Shut the condition lever and run the starter. Check Oil Pressure gauge.
-if engine failed because of programmed cause, oil pressure won't rise above 2-3 psi, and of course not reach lower limit of ~ 4, even when N1 is above 15-18 %. Trying to restart the engine won't be possible.
-if oil pressure rises above 4, then turn on ignition and try to restart the engine. It might restart or it might not.
Let me know the results so I can detect if there is an anomaly somewhere.
Thanks!
Tomas

Re: Engine stops working suddenly
Hello,
Before I read your post I was desperate and uninstalled the plane and deleted the folders.
After that a reinstall. It worked and I could make some nice flights an some betamode testing. What a wonderfull airplane this is!!.......The MVAMS showed a +/- 99% engine condition.
The next flight the engine stopped a few seconds after take-off .I am sure I did not push the limits!(Torque about 40) I could land and shut the condition lever. Turned on the starter: The oilpressure was about 1,5 psi and I could not start the engine.
Surprisingly the MVAMS told me that the engine condition was 100%
Hope this helps.

Re: Engine stops working suddenly
Thanks for your report.
"The oilpressure was about 1,5 psi and I could not start the engine"
That means the failure was triggered by the system in response to a low engine condition index. So it was an expected failure.
I believe the index is reset to 100 % after the event, so that would be correct.
Are you controlling oil temp? You have an oil cooler lever that must be used to keep oil temp below amber warning levels.
So far I cannot think of other issues you might have been experiencing, except perhaps a high ITT on startup, not so high to exceed the ~ 1000 C but above the 700 C?

Re: Engine stops working suddenly
Hi Tomas,
After a few days trying out I have come to the conclusion that the engine failure was because of me. During taxiing (I think) I used the reverse thrust without monitoring the gauges And some times I was to hasty during start-up.
Nothing wrong with the engine! I had to learn to follow the exact starting procedure and constant monitoring the gauges also during taxiing. Now I am enjoying this marvellous plane even more!
Thank you for your support. It helped me much.
I have only one question: When I move the condition lever forwards the latch locks at position 60. When I pull the lever backwards the lever stops at position 80 when the latch is closed. Is this a normal behaviour?
Regards
Addy
