Modified fuel pump "low" sound

Post by trisager » Thu Sep 09, 2010 2:06 pm

The fuel pump sound makes a slight click every two-three seconds in the "low" position. I trimmed ~50ms from the end of the sound file to get rid of it. I've attached the modified file to this post if others want to try it.

First make a backup copy of the original "SND17.wav" file from the "FSX\Sound\MilViz" folder, then unzip the attachment and replace the file.

Hey, Tom,

Thanks for that file. I don't like those clicks either. (No offense to anyone.)

Best,
Fritz

Wanna know what I do about annoying aircraft sounds? Nothing. I have two sound options on my computer. The sound card is a Creative X-Fi Platinum, and that drives my Klipschs with almost every sound from my computer. I say almost, because on my motherboard is a RealTek built-in sound that drives all ATC sounds through my headphones. More realistic like CRAZY!!! I love it, and I'm very glad FSX has this option. IE: if you have a built-in soundcard you've dissabled and have the IRQs to spare, enable it and use headphones for the ATC.

The "click" in the original file is not an actual aircraft sound, it is an artifact created when the sound clip ends and loops around to play again from the beginning. In the original recording the sound waveform at the end doesn't line up with the beginning, and the sudden transition is what creates the "click".

I wish I could have speakers for the airplane sounds, but unfortunately my computer is in a shared room, so that's a nogo.

NOTA BENE: The forthcoming service release includes the 'clipped' version of this sound file.

Ozark, you stated the headphones get the ATC while the other sounds are from speakers...................do you have to have a separate sound card to do this and how do I set up FSX to make this happen?? (I now use the onboard soundcard on the MB) B42L8
