Engine sounds after startup

Post by Flic1 » Sun Nov 11, 2018 9:31 pm

Kind of a strange issue but I have noticed that immediately after starting the engines (in 90% of cases) the sound goes very quiet. Hitting the 'Q' button restores the normal sound. It is almost like a particular sound file is not playing (the deep throaty rumble is what is missing after start) I wasn't sure if this was something buggy in the aircraft or P3D (v4.3). I do not recall ever having that issue on other aircraft. I am using a 2 speaker stereo output with Soundblaster Z. Thanks!

Same here...except my sounds come back after just a few seconds.

Just to confirm, this is definitely a bug in the FSX/P3D sound system where the sound system ignores engine RPM input. It affects all types of aircraft (and even helicopters) and has been present since the launch of FSX. Unfortunately there isn't a lot we can do about it at the moment.

The fix is already mentioned by the thread starter, you can give the sound system a shove by pressing "Q" twice (toggle sound). This will force the sound system to re-read RPMs and voila... problem solved.
