OOM?

Post by Merlin59 » Mon Jul 23, 2018 3:13 am

I just flew this airplane this afternoon from PFYU(default) to PAFA(Aerosoft). I can't fly from one to the other without an OOM. I can put any other airplane in and fly it just fine. Now I use FSX:A and I'm well aware this is a simulation problem and not one with the plane I'm honestly just curious if anyone else has had the issue. It seems to be a very low add on environment for this to keep occuring. I haven't had time to test it much else where but I don't even get these in higher add on areas very often. I know I could just upgrade to Prepar3d but unfortunately that's not an option. Thanks for any input and I do love the plane but this does unfortunately limit it's use for me.

Are you using the WX or any other glass? If so, don't.

You could, if you know how, reduce some of the map sizes... (external)... that would help....

No not using the WX or other glass. I was just surprised that it happened in what I would have gathered to be a low resource area. Not a total killer but somewhat annoying. I'll test it more and if it keeps happening I'll maybe lower the settings some. If I still need too. Thanks for the answer!

If You use FTX Vector turn of 4th and 3th roads and details. Power lines turn off also.

Right now the only other actives in the area would be scenerytech landclass and GEX:NA. GEX usually helps and doesn't hurt but I guess there could be a first for everything. It didn't start till I got in range of Fairbanks. Which is Aerosoft's add on. Never happened there before and try as I might I can't force it to with any other airplane. Just one more reason among many to make the move to Prepar3d. Thanks for the input! :)

I advice it, especially if You use Win 10 64 bits.

I use Windows 7 64bit. Still recommended? Would be interested in your opinion. Rest of my machine seems to be up to the task. I'm at recommended not required on all but the version of Windows.

I've experienced the same.

After reducing the load of textures in formats 4096x4096 and 2048x2048 to 1024x1024 (except the Beaver_int_01.dds for crisp instruments) I can fly it savely in FSXA, with similar PC specs as yours.
There are about 260 such textures in the texture folder of the base model, plus the individual textures of each paint!
Probably too much for 32bit systems...

The loss in crispness is quite acceptable to me.

In my opinion this original aircraft is only limited usable for FSX and Milviz should offer a reduced texture version as a free option.

Can't say I would disagree! Not sure how to start with reducing textures myself though.

Hi Merlin59

I do texture reductions, also for sceneries, with "Ordenador Optimzer Textures" now available free(?) from
https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/12801/
I got some time ago from any other site which I don't remember, unfortunatley.

Instructions:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fiDJjCZSHhM
https://www.reddit.com/r/skyrimmods/com ... ordenador/

You can do batch conversions with this handy, simple to use tool (about 420KB rar download)

Hope this helps

Ernst

Thank you Merlin59 and Ernst for your info in this thread. Using Ordenador to reduce the DHC3-T textures to 1024 really helped me overcome the OOM I was facing when in the VAS heavy area around CYYZ (FlyTampa)/CYTZ (FsimStudios). Using MS Process Explorer, I saw a VAS reduction of about 450Mb in FSXA.

Bravo and thank you!

This is why the specification is high for these products.

You’re likely right at the minimum.
