P3 Heater?
Hi Folks,
I have no problem at all in operating the 'Trotter' in FSX and think it's a truly great sim in all aspects. Well done - the flight dynamics, graphics and engine modelling are all top class.
But I hope to find out more about the function of the P3 Heater, please.
The manual simply tells us when to turn it on and off. It doesn't seem to me to affect anything to do with engine performance at warm to hottish OAT. I did notice a hotter than usual start on a warm day on the only time I started the engine with it on. So I start without and then turn the P3 Heater on.
The internet has some info, but most of it highly technical maintenance stuff, wherein it's assumed the reader knows what it's for, rather than explaining the reason for it.
I know it has something to do with a very high-speed air ventura, which is also associated with the fuel flow regulator.
Why is it required and what if you do/don't use it under various conditions? Icing? Sub-zero or very high OATs?
Thanks!
