DHC-3T low fps
Bought this a few days ago after thoroughly enjoying the Beaver and Otter. Unfortunately the fps is very low for me - 9 to 11 in the same settings/scenery I get 27-30 in either Beaver or Otter. Disabling reallight (or is it trueglass?) only gains 1 or 2 fps.
I have tried a new download/install without any improvement. A/V was disabled during both the download and install (I use MS Essentials) and exclusions are set up for P3D v4 in MSE.
System specs - i5 760 @ 4GHz, 8Gb ram, GTX960 2Gb, Win7 plus P3Dv4 which would seem to exceed the minimum specs on the product page. I noticed that my 960 is running maxed out and also nearly system ram too with the DHC-3T, but quite a bit lower with either Beaver or Otter in the same scenario.
Before I splash out on a 6Gb graphics card and more system ram, can I get some confirmation that my specs are not good enough? Bit surprised that some external modelling code for the engine is having that much effect when the visual model doesn't look any better than the other 2 a/c, unless the True options are very heavy hitters!

Re: DHC-3T low fps
Are you running any GTN or WX units?
Try disabling them if yes.

Re: DHC-3T low fps
Not using GTN or WX.
I have just tried cold and dark with the default avionics selected and sit at 14 fps (FTX AU, Tamworth, no wxr addon). Same scenario in the Otter gives me 29/30 fps. I appreciate that the avionics fit with default in the 3T and none in the Otter is not the same, but its the most basic you can select.
Otter uses 1800Mb graphics ram, 3T uses 2018Mb (basically all of it). System memory is about the same for both (5.6Gb 'ish).
Any suggestions gratefully received (might make the wife agree to a better rig! - lol)

Re: DHC-3T low fps
No further suggestions before I blow some cash?
May I suggest a review of the minimum requirements on the product page, as it looks like the "2.6GHz processor, 4Gb ram and DX11 1024Mb graphics" will not be enough to render this add-on usable? Shame, cos there are some great looking videos of it on YouTube that convinced me to buy it, so it obviously works well for some.
On a similar vein, I was toying with the PA-30 too, but now I'm wondering if that will give me the same issues as it has the same requirements.

Re: DHC-3T low fps
I have a GTX770 and get about 50fps on default settings with ORBX scenery.

That's about 40fps more than me - weird. Unless it's the somewhat ancient processor (7 years old). Is there that much difference between the Otter and 3T in terms of modelling systems? And can I install it without Realglass and Truelight to see if they are causing issues? Really don't want to call quits on this and also not keen on blowing £1500 on a new pc..

Re: DHC-3T low fps
there's really not that much difference in the DHC3 vis a vis the DHC3T. One more map. Some code. That's it.
Not sure why you're getting such bad FPS.
You're not using any sceneries?

Re: DHC-3T low fps
FTX Global, FTX AU, several FTX AU airports. But its the same I use with the Beaver and Otter, which nets me 28 - 30fps but only 11 in the 3T. I only recently installed the Otter in P3Dv4 and installed the 3T the same way, so its strange I get such different results.
I have the F4J and advanced pack and easily hit 24+ fps on that too. Also bought the F100 a month or so ago (awesome by the way) and get similar 30fps results with that so I'm at a loss here...
Is there a difference in the texture sizes?

Nope. If you disable the sceneries..

Re: DHC-3T low fps
Sceneries disabled so only running default P3Dv4 stuff - nets me 0 to 1fps in VC and actually 1 to 2 worse in outside view! Best in VC was 12fps.
Hmmm .

Re: DHC-3T low fps
Update - found a thread on the Aerosoft forums where some were having problems with frame rate on one of their recent releases. Solution suggested was re-installing the P3D client. I have tried that and it has doubled the fps (also suggested delete the Prepar3d.cfg and shaders)! Now getting 20-22 fps at same locations above and 30 locked when out of the scenery areas. Not sure how much the 6Gb graphics card is doing as its only using about 2.4, but the DHC-3T is very usable for me now. Flies very nicely - good job Milviz.
