Weather Radar and FSXWX

Post by roland » Wed Dec 27, 2017 9:13 am

Hi there,
Have purchased the Otter but the Weather Radar cannot be turned on, not in VC nor in pop-up mode.
I am using FSXWX (freeware) and need to know if I have missed anything. Have read someweher that wx will work with any weather engine.
Thank you.

OK, no replies...
Could you please list all weather engines Milviz weather radar is compatible with?
Thank you.

Somehow overlooked this one....it should work with all weather engines. That said, I don’t know for certain if the latest build is released.

It is the last six digits of the installer name. The latest version is 170829

During installation the Weather radar version associated with the sim version must match , the list is long and unless the appropriate version is selected will default to the FSXA .

Its also possible the appropriate version of simconnect isn't permitting contact with the weather engine to provide data to the Radar , the following was recommended to resolve this issue.

Best CJ

1. Download and install FSUIP 4.964 or higher (my is 4.964 )

2. download and install net.framework 3.5

3. browse to ur P3D root folder ... redist -> Interface ->FSX-SP2-XPACK -> retail -> lib

install SimConnect.msi

4. restart PC

5. browse to ur P3D root folder ... -> weather and backup wxmapping.bin or rename

6. when done delete oryginal wxmapping.bin from weather folder

7. download modified wxmapping.bin unpack and copy/paste to weather folder

8. browse to: ur_user_name -> AppData -> Roaming -> Lockheed Martin -> Prepar3D v3 and delete file wxstationlist.bin

9. run P3D and go to airport.

10. now very important, run FSXWX as admin

// right click on FSXWX.exe or shourtcut and click on run as administrator

Did everything as instructed but no luck. WX cannot be switched on, not in VC nor if using pop up window.

Do the controls at least appear in popup mode?

What was the WX option you chose to install FSXA , FSX SP2 ?

What Sim are you installing these into ?

Chuck,

No controls in the pop up, the windows only shows the bitmap.
I am running FSX SP2 and think I have chosen it installing the WX option.

Thank you.

Please post your panel cfg. It shouldn't even be able to display that if the gauge is not working.

Hi Roland,

Would you mind turning off your FSXWX and checking what functions and what doesn't?
The current build is robust and we need to verify that your install is good; FSXWX is only clouding the issue.

All the best - Osh
