Frame rates down?

Post by Timmy74 » Sat Nov 25, 2017 7:11 am

Hello chaps,

I have been waiting for this aircraft like a girl waiting for a pony ride! I must say that I am extremely impressed with her.

Unfortunately, I am getting quite a frame rate drop in her and I have no idea why??? Would any one be able to give some ideas please for i would really like to keep her but if i can not fly her there is no point and I will ask kindly for a refund.

I have done some testing and no matter where or what scenery I use I get a frame rate drop.

All the following pictures are at Stewart and no setting have been changed what so ever? Never had to. Please note the frame rates in the top left corner of the picture.

Will do and I will report back....

However, I use the same GPS/GTN unit in the Milviz Beaver and no issue? Has the new "Mivilz GPS" been changed?

No. It's not. I cannot figure out why you're having this because no one else does. Really. No one.

You're not running the WX are you?

in 4.1? Cause it's not working yet... and that might be the cause...

No I do not run the WX.

My P3D version is V3.4. I do not have V4.

Turning off the GPS unit does not help....?

This thing has me stumped too! Its very frustrating because I have been so looking forward to this aircraft. I do not get this issue with any other of my Milviz products!?!

Try disabling your nice scenery....

Hello , what would help us diagnose your frame rate issue are complete system specs and what ancillary software is active , IE Chaseplane , Active Sky, Orbx scenery or other , Accu-Feel or other effects augmentation programs .

I will assess frame rates across the panoply of supported sims to check their numbers under identical conditions to see if its related to a specific platform, as you're the sole person to report this there appears to be a system or platform specific element at work .

Hello CJ,

Here are my machine specs...

Intel (R) Core (TM) i7-2700K CPU @3.50GHz 3.90 GHz 16G RAM. GeForce GTX 670 Graphics Card.

Ancillary software installed is Orbx, OZx, Misty Moorings and REX (very wound back as you will see in my P3D set up).
I have no IE Chaseplane , Active Sky and or Accu-Feel installed.

Here are my P3D setups....

Krazycolin suggested "disabling your nice scenery...." Now what is the point of that? Sorry.... but why would one disable their scenery to get one aircraft to work!?!? Also as my first lot of pictures show, its only the Otter that i am having issues with. If it were other aircraft...sure I would go along with Krazycolin.

Just for Krazycolin I did turn off my "nice scenery" and there was just a slight improvement in the fame rates but not at 30 like the others. The inside camera shot (Cockpit view) was still at half 15- 20 FPS.

If it is the "nice scenery" could someone on your end test if there are FR drops at Orbx airports please?

Cheers,

I think Colin's suggestion was not that you get rid of your scenery permanently; just to temporarily disable it to see what effect it had on the frame rate.

My take on the results is the GTN670 card cant quite take all the bitmaps we used to create the DHC3 , My son just replaced one of those for lack of capacity going from 1 gig of video memory to 8.

In order to improve framerates I would suggest turning off aircrafts shadows , unknown to most is that to shadow the interior the sim generates a duplicate mesh to project shaders upon, turning off the aircraft's shadows will cut cycle time and should improve framerates markedly , setting render size to 1024 another possibility and last would be running a reduced bitmap size, they are 2048X2048 and when reduced to 1024X1024 would require 25% of their current memory to load.

I suspect Pagination is happening on your video card and its using pc memory to fill the gap.

Hello CJ,

Where would I find "render size" and and "bitmap size" please, so I can try your suggestion?

Cheers,
Tim.

Hello CJ,

Please scratch that last request..... I did a bit of playing around and found that if un-tick "Mipmap VC Panels" my FPS comes back up to 30!

Thank you very much for all of your help.

On as side note....why is it when you select "Cold and Dark" not all switched in the aircraft are off?

Cheers,
Tim.

Glad to hear you found a solution , the settings I suggested are in the graphics and lighting tabs , examples posted by yourself on the previous page .

Re Switches , might be something to do with a saved flight .
