Recently migrated to a new hard drive and FSX Accel install on its own partition. I had FSX acceleration and the F4 J/S ADV Tacpack running fine on the old hard drive.
Intel Core i5-4570, 3.2GHz, 8 GB ram, win 7 ultimate. Radeon R7 200 series graphics with 2 GB

Only new hardware was the hard drive and I re-installed all of FSX.

Upon the new install and startup I can select and load the aircraft but my loadout window is blank. I cannot turn on FSX sound (the addon seems to hold it set off despite key press) and I noticed the afterburner visuals are set on regardless of engine settings. It is also ignoring my MVAMS cold dark config and seems to start running.

I have installed and uninstalled several times with my security settings all off. No fix. If I install the F-4 without the advanced/tacpack installer the sound is ok and the afterburner is fine, but the config page is still blank and it ignores my cold dark config request.

To re-iterate I had this running before the hard drive replacement no issue. Additionally I have the F-100D running just fine in the new setup.

Also, as to the simconnect question below I am not in P3D so I assume this got installed with FSX. Is this correct?

Does your system meet the sims requirements?. If you are using Prepar3d you can verify your version by going to the P3D location, right clicking on the sim1.dll and checking Properties->Details: YES
Did you temporarily disable your anti-virus program during the download process?: YES
Before installing did you disable UAC. (User Account Control)?: YES
Did you install, and are you running the sim as an admin?: YES
Before running the sim did you make sure the FSX/P3D directory is off limits to any AV scanning?: YES
Does your system have the required distributables?: YES
Is your video card DX11 compatible?: YES
If applicable, did disable any FSX to P3D migration tools (like Estonia) before running the sim?: YES
Are you using an aircraft other than a Milviz one as your default aircraft?: YES
Have you installed in the root sim directory?: YES
Do you have the appropriate SimConnect libraries installed?: YES

Since you re-installed your FSX, I suspect your FSX is no longer running as admin. Right click on it, select properties->Compatibility, and verify that Run this program as administrator is checked.

This was not set, however the symptoms persist after uninstall-reinstall and running FSX in admin mode.

Try uninstalling and reinstalling the F-4 base package and then the ADV, but on each install, take a screenshot of the output paths window of the installer so I can see where it is installing the files.

Your base package install is out of date. Try these. Remember to uninstall from the base package first, then install the base package followed by the ADV.

Okay, so I used the newer files. Interestingly MVAMS says an update is still available but I ignored that since you linked me to files (note I have seen this in previous installs and on at least on one previous occasion I tried to let MVAMS do its update. Still no change).

Installed both. Same issue. Sound wont toggle on (kept off with the red text in FSX saying sound off no matter how many times I hit Q. If I hit Q I get a burst of sound and it toggles back off). Afterburner effects on regardless of throttle, configurator popup blank. And again I had cold and dark in mvams, not cold and dark. It 'flies' if I throttle and take off but systems seem a mess.

I uninstalled your newest files.

Installing the base pack only and starting, the aircraft is still not cold and dark as set, it is on, starts in a big cloud of black smoke but flies. the Configuration window is still blank. Cant set loads. Only difference is sound will work and the afterburner effect is responding to throttle.

I thought I had installed whatever c++ or which ever libraries (I forget which) is in the FAQ. but I suppose I can try re-installing those.

Only other delta as stated before is my new harddrive and FSX install. I ran this after I bought it at the end of last year on my older harddrive and FSX install. It and tacpack, everything worked swimmingly. New harddrive and re-install of FSX and it hasn't worked once. I have installed at least three builds up through the linked file and behavior hasn't changed. I guess the good thing is the problem hasn't changed characteristics. Every single install uninstall install behaves EXACTLY the same way.

Do I need to do something to registry or otherwise to fully remove it before my install attempts? I feel like something went wrong the first time installing on this new HD and subsequent uninstalls and re-installs aren't overwriting or undoing whatever it is.

The F-4 doesn't use anything registry related so I don't think that is an issue. Something is preventing the modules in FSX from running properly. Please zip and upload your fsx.cfg.

Looks like the files aren't being updated. Try running the installers as admin instead of just double clicking on them. Also please confirm you are able to move the 3 SAS switches aft of the throttles.

So some progress. Im not sure if it is related but for another game I updated my java and after that this seems to be working much better.

So in all the install attempts I tried previously I had been selecting Admin, etc. Many many times.

Now the sounds, loadout page, and general aircraft seem to work. Interestingly you mentioned the SAS switches. Those have always worked, however I noticed my engine crank switches don't animate, toggle. That is my only apparent remaining issue.

If you have a thought on that ill take it but I seem to be flyable. Do you think Java was it? I had a version installed, the update coincidentally seemed to help.

No idea. I never did anything with Java in this bird (I don't even know how to write Java). Either way, glad it is working.
