Need support- New install of F-4J/S ADV locks P3DV4. and or CTD [Resolved]

Hi I purchased and installed F-4J/S ADV and have had no luck with running it, Osh provided link to current installers. Followed process for installing and can see them in my list of aircraft. When I choose one of the F4s, it will either CTD as soon as terh flight starts to load, or if the load completes the aircraft spawns with engine running but locks up P3DV4 almost immediately. Osh suggested opening a support case since he was not able to get me running. I have been running T-38C ADV with no issues on same PC. Details below:


Does your system meet the sim's requirements? YES
Did you temporarily disable your anti-virus program during the download process? YES
Before installing did you disable UAC. (User Account Control)? YES
Did you install, and are you running the sim as an admin? YES
Before running the sim did you make sure the FSX/P3D directory is off limits to any AV scanning? YES
Does your system have the required distributables? YES
Is your video card DX11 compatible? YES
If applicable, did you disable any FSX to P3D migration tools (like Estonia) before running the sim? YES
Are you using an aircraft other than a Milviz one as your default aircraft? YES
Have you installed in the root sim directory? YES
Do you have the appropriate SimConnect libraries installed? YES

You need to install the base package, followed by the ADV package in order to avoid the CTD since the non ADV base package is not compatible with the latest v4.

Hi Jonathan, had done that previously using the installers for both F-4 J/S and Adv from the support forum as per Osh's suggestion. Initial installation had been done using the installer from Flightsim store when I purchased the F-4... I've downloaded fresh copies of the installers, and uninstalled both, with ADV being uninstalled first. Checked my P3D Sim Objects file and it was gone. Re-installed just the F4 (not ADV) using MV_F-4SJ_Phantom_II_vA1.180712_JS and it loads, but when the aircraft spawns it is frozen with engine sound running. P3D is locked. Eventually I get the "P3D not responding" alert.

After re-reading your post above, I see that f-4J/S is not compatible with P3DV4, so I added ADV after first trying just F-4J/S alone. I get an immediate CTD as soon as I start to load a scenario where I select the F-4J/S ADV. Order of installation was MV_F-4SJ_Phantom_II_vA1.180712_JS followed by MV_F-4SJ_Phantom_II_TPADV_vA1.180712_JS

To be clear, I did a complete uninstall of both F-4J/S and F-4J/s ADV and reinstall in the order of F-4J/S followed by F-4J/S ADV. Still getting the same CTD as soon as I select the aircraft and start loading.

Trying to upload ContentErrorReport and Application Error report I saved from a CTD, but your website will not allow me to attach a .txt, nor submit when I paste the content of the Application Error Report. How should I provide this info to you? CTD occurred with the installation described in previous post. Had uninstalled ADV and F4J/S, then reinstalled in order of F4J/S, followed by ADV.

2 things:

1: Your v4 does seem to be a bit outdated. Try updating it.

2: Verify that it runs as admin by right clicking on your P3D shortcut, selecting properties->compatibility->Run this program as administrator.

I have been running P3D as administrator. Updated P3D to 4.5.14.34698, same result. Loaded default Eglin flight, then selected F4J. Immediately received program not responding message followed by a "prepar3d has stopped working" alert. Content errors and application errors attached.

Your P3D is not up to date properly then. The error report contains this line:

Faulting application name: Prepar3D.exe, version: 4.4.16.27077, time stamp: 0x5bfdbb35

Note the version number is still showing v4.4. You may want to uninstall your P3D v4 client and content from the control panel->add and remove programs (doing so won't touch your addons or scenery), and reinstall them.

Hi Jonathan, still no luck. Application Error and Content error files attached. Here's what I did:

1) Updated P3D to V4.5.14.34698 which is the latest version of V4 available on the LM site
2) Downloaded a fresh copy of the F4J/S installer (with Anti Virus off) from Milviz- https://milviz.com/Online_products/Lega ... 712_JS.zip.
3) Uninstalled the current installation by running the ADV uninstall first, then ran the un-install for F4J/S using the freshly downloaded copy of the main installer mentioned in 2..
4) After checking to see if F4 was gone, installed F4 using MV_F-4SJ_Phantom_II_vA1.180712_JS
5) Upon completion of install of main F4, immediately ran installer for ADV- MV_F-4SJ_Phantom_II_TPADV_vA1.180712_JS
6) Rebooted, launched P3DV4.5.14.34698 as administrator.
7) Select F4J as vehicle with the basic Eglin flight.
8) Clicked "OK" bottom right to launch current selection..
9) Immediate "Application has stopped working" alert.. It never even gets to where you see the flight loading or progress bar.

This only happens with the F4... All other aircraft including Milviz products like T-38C ADV and F-100D work just fine.

Have also tried loading default flight completely with F22, then selecting F4J as vehicle. As soon as I hit "OK", same result. Immediate application error before it ever starts to load.

Hmm...now that I think of it...What happens if you go into the MVAMS and click Save as Default without touching anything else? Does that solve it?

Bingo! All I had to do was go into MVAMS and hit "save defaults" (didn't even make changes) and it works perfectly! The upgrade from 4.4 to 4.5 was still a very worthwhile troubleshooting step. I had been reluctant to upgrade to 4.5 because 4.4 was pretty stable and trouble free and didn't want to rock the boat. But even though 4.5 did have negative impact on a couple of pieces of add-on scenery, the performance improvements far offset that. Thanks for your help!
