737 ADF

Post by od1canod » Fri Sep 14, 2018 4:49 pm

Hi Guys,

So after having this addon since pretty much its release I always had issues with CTD and such so never gave it many hours. I recently noticed the latest update and am giving it a go again. Moving back to no FMS/CDU, SP-177, etc is quite the teardown but I did originally get it to have a basic early 737-200. Although I'd hoped for at least the more updated AP.

Anyways, here I am giving it a go and wow, guess an NDB approach is out as tuning the ADF is not working. I can tune only from 100-1700 but the fractions will not tune? ie its stuck with X81 so I can tune 181-1781. Nothing in any of the new manuals about tuning ADF.

Can I get some assist with that as without a working ADF I might as well park it again.

Thanks,

Owen

Fractional tuning is enabled if you click on the BFO switch. Note the only "fractional" available is 0.5...

...for example, 331.0 with BFO on will be 331.5 ;)

Unfortunately that wont help. I cant tune anything except the 100-1700, so I'm stuck with every frequency ending in 81, eg:181, 281, 381...1781. I can turn on the fractional for the .5.

Left-click/Right-click for inc/dec by 10 kHz
Use mouse wheel for inc/dec by 1 kHz

OK, got it figured although that tuning knob is horrid. I have to specifically view the center console and have any mouse zoom disabled for that view. Then the mouse scroll wheel will tune that part of the freq with the l/r mouse buttons handling the 100 increments. Not really a great implementation.

Well, there really wasn't any other way to code the knob. I suppose I could have added a smaller knob to handle the 1 kHz inc/dec, and the larger (inner) knob for 10 kHz inc/dec. It's a good thing I included a popup tooltip, because it's impossible to actually read the 'dial!' :?

BTW, using the A key you can cycle to an overhead view of the radios and control them more easily.

Truth be told, this model is almost as old as the real aircraft! Seriously, I coded this nearly 10 years ago in it's first iteration. :ugeek:
