Black Windows c310R with NAVSTAX
Hi Dear Guys,
A really weird problem (never encountered before). When I configure my C310 Redux with NAVSTAX and WX all the windows are black both from inside and outside. With other radio configuriton it is working normally i.e. transparent windows.
Appreciate your help,
Tamas

Re: Black Windows c310R with NAVSTAX
I've just tested the v180510 and am unable to duplicate the 'black windows' so I'm at a loss to account for your experience. Have you tried a fresh download and reinstall?
The only difference between the NavStax alone and the one with WX is the addition of the WX gauge and a couple of entries in the panel.cfg and console files.

Many thanks for your reply, I try to experience a bit to clarify the issue. I said: a weird problem.

Re: Black Windows c310R with NAVSTAX
I have the same problem. I did a fresh download on both after making sure everything related to security - AV, firewall, UAC - all disabled. Left them off as I did a fresh install of both. Configured in NAVSTAX and then in MVAMS. Black windows but the entire inside of the airplane is ok. Just can't see outside. Go outside and all's well but the glass on the airplane is slightly transparent, very black and swirling. Go back and reconfigure in MVAMS so the Garmin stack as default and all is well. NAVSTAX comes up as a 2D popup ok. I checked everything I can think of and it simply will not work in the VC for me. Additionally, although the stack shows up properly in the 3d panel, only the audio panel and autopilot appear to have any function. The knobs pull in and out on the nav/com but they cannot be turned. The unsquelched hiss can be heard on one com radio but the radio itself is off. The transponder and ADF don't function at all.
Am I correct in my understanding that the only configuration available to the user is for the 2D panel? The 3D panel - as I understand it - must be installed by MilViz so there's nothing a user can do insofar as installation other than install a licensed version of NAVSTAX. I assume since it's only me and one other who have said there's a problem, it must be caused by my computer. It's not enough money to worry about and, since there are not two OBS, it doesn't really look as I'd hoped - I wanted to replicate what I flew with a friend in the early to mid-80's. I comment only to give a few more details than the first poster.
I love the airplane

Add this missing gauge entry from the NavStax_Panel.cfg file's [Vcockpit01] section. This will be found in the ..\SimObjects\Airplanes\MV_C310R\panel\PanelConfigs folder:
gauge10=TrueGlass!Core,0,0,1,1
This will fix the "black windows" issue.

Thanks very much for the very prompt reply. I don't find the folder to which you refer. All that's within my panel config folder relative to Navstax is
NavStax_Panel.cfg 0kb
NavStax_WX_Panel.cfg
I tried adding the gauge into the panel config folder but it had no effect
I wonder, since the gauge you specify is "true glass" if it's intended for the P3D version. I'm using FSX SE.
If there is supposed to be a folder called "navStax_Panel.cfg [Vcockpit01] I don't have it. Only the files indicated above. And, I just uninstalled NavStax again, turned off all security and installed it. Everything seemed to go ok. As I said, the 3D panel appears but other than the autopilot lighting up, nothing seems to work.
one other interesting situation - when I first loaded the C-310 I had NOT selected the NavStax as default but had installed it. The right engine started without issue. No matter what I did, the left would not start manually. But it started instantly with Ctrl E. When I uninstalled NavStax, the left engine started as easily as the right. After reinstalling NavStax, I still have the black window problem but both engines start manually.
Please don't get me wrong - I am NOT complaining. I am truly amazed at what you people have done. I don't think users stop to think about the brilliance of what has been produced or the amazing work of those who produce it. Long ago - before Microsoft took over flight simulator (I can't remember what it was called then) I was astounded by what now is considered a very primitive simulator. Now, every time I start FSX and fly either the MV Beaver or the 310 or an airplane by A2A, I am blown away. Add the weather effects fro Rex and scenery from Orbx - "incredible" doesn't begin to do it justice. I would LOVE to buy the F-100 - it provided our close air support in Vietnam and I would truly love to be able to fly it. But what you have produced is so real and too far beyond my ability to do anything other than drool.
Anyway - I wanted you to know you are appreciated and I am not complaining even a little.

Re: Black Windows c310R with NAVSTAX
Here is an image of the C310R's folder hierarchy. The folder PanelConfigs is the 5th from the top on the right pane:

In that folder should be these 20 archived xxx_panel.cfg files:

When you have the MVAMS menu open, after you select the options you want and click on the SAVE button, MVAMS will copy/paste/rename the xxx_Panel.cfg file into the ..\panel folder. When the sim loads your choice, the panel.cfg file will load the corresponding Console_xxx.xml file from the ..\Panel\Console folder, and load the "gauge". It is this gauge file that indicates which of the multiple meshes should be seen in the VC, and also moves their positions if required.
That's how the system works...
Now as far as the TrueGlass is concerned, even in FSX we need to add these two entries to "paint the windshield with a transparent texture" so the pilot can see!
Rather than make you edit them yourself, I've added them as an attachment. Simply download this file and unzip it to your ..\panel\PanelConfigs folder. Consider it my way of apologizing for making you jump though hoops!

I did as you said and it works perfectly now. Thanks again
