Re: RealLight Initialization Error
Well I went through the every folder in the RealLight 737-200 Texture folder and there is no file called _0.bmp
Any other suggestions?
Edit: for what its worth the only 737-200 variant that does not CTD P3D V4.5.12.30293 is Canada North. I still get the RealLIght failed to initialize popups (13 or 14 of them) but the scenario loads and I can fly.

Re: RealLight Initialization Error
In the 737's case, I found there are a number of Thumbs SQLite database files that shouldn't be in the textures folders, along with 2 $Int_TG textures in the plt_g texture folder. If you delete those, it should work again.
I do have an update to the installer coming up that corrects this problem (make sure to uninstall first and then reinstall), along with another bug in the MVAMS. CTDs are more than likely connected to the WX radar.

Re: RealLight Initialization Error
Very frustrating. I just bought the Turbo Otter today and was looking forward to flying it but I get the RealLight errors and then after loading the sim crashes to desktop. I checked all the texture folders under RealLight and there is no _0.bmp just 0.bmp. How close are we to a fix for this? Wish I had known before buying...

Re: RealLight Initialization Error
Frustrating for us too, as everything was working fine before TFDi's RealLight update.
However, we have been working with them to diagnose what exactly is causing the problems and will have a permanent remedy as soon as we can.

Re: RealLight Initialization Error
Hi all,
tried the stuff mentioned by JB manually on the 737 but it did not work for me. Weird things. Very frustrating indeed. If you need any help with testing or more input just drop a line. Up to then happy daylight only flying (or portering)
Cheers

Re: RealLight Initialization Error
I should clarify, the cause is non numeric files located in the RealLight texture folders. In the T-38C's case that was the _0.bmp. In the 737's case it is a bunch of Thumbs.sql files and 2 $Int_TG textures that shouldn't be there. I don't know what type of non numeric/non image file is in the Totter, but a check of each folder (unhide hidden files and folders in your folder settings) should solve it.

Re: RealLight Initialization Error
Thanks! For the PC-6 issue I had with lightweight texture set, there was indeed these damned 'Thumbs.db' files in each folder of the RealLight/Texture folder.JonathanBleeker wrote: ↑Mon Jul 15, 2019 9:22 amI should clarify, the cause is non numeric files located in the RealLight texture folders.
Deleted those db files, and now I don't have any more RealLight Initialization error.

Re: RealLight Initialization Error
Unfortunately, those 'Thumbs.db' files are created automatically by Windows. There's nothing we can do about that except to have users delete them manually.

Re: RealLight Initialization Error
Holy Moly... Working fine for the 737 now. One hiding evil thumbnail gremlin deleted. But what is wrong in the Turbine Otter:
/Prepar3D v4/SimObjects/Airplanes/DHC-3 Turbine Otter Milviz/RealLight/Textures
$ dir -R
.:
Cabin Gauges Left Right
./Cabin:
0.bmp 17.bmp
./Gauges:
0.bmp 1.bmp 16.bmp 2.bmp
./Left:
1.bmp 10.bmp 11.bmp 12.bmp 13.bmp 14.bmp 15.bmp 16.bmp 17.bmp 2.bmp 3.bmp 4.bmp 5.bmp 6.bmp 7.bmp 8.bmp 9.bmp
./Right:
1.bmp 10.bmp 11.bmp 12.bmp 13.bmp 14.bmp 15.bmp 16.bmp 17.bmp 1B.bmp 2.bmp 3.bmp 4.bmp 5.bmp 6.bmp 7.bmp 8.bmp 9.bmp
Is it the 1B.bmp in the "Right" folder?
Cheers

Re: RealLight Initialization Error
yes - you are right - it is the 1B.bmp
there is also a 2x.bmp in the liveried models that should be deleted

Re: RealLight Initialization Error
Yeah have seen the 2x e.g. in the amphib version. Ok, can confirm without 1B.bmp the base Turbine Otter looking fine, too. Are these files save to be deleted or is something missing then?

Re: RealLight Initialization Error
Just for my understanding: the errors come from non-numerical filenames under the reallight texture folder.
Finding and removing those negates the errors, but does not fix the actual lighting missing...
And that for all aircraft impacted:
737-200
Porter
Otter
Turbo Otter
Else....?

Re: RealLight Initialization Error
The lighting should continue to function perfectly. Those files were always there and not being used. A change to RealLight code to support some new development features was what brought them to light.

Re: RealLight Initialization Error
I have removed the 2 $Int_TG textures from the build folder, so they won't be a problem any longer. There never have been any "Thumbs" in the build folder.JonathanBleeker wrote: ↑Mon Jul 15, 2019 9:22 amIn the 737's case it is a bunch of Thumbs.sql files and 2 $Int_TG textures that shouldn't be there.

Re: RealLight Initialization Error
Thank you Milviz for the quick update here! After the fix my T-38C works like a charm, no errors from real light anymore
Well, of course only if you don't do it the sloppy way, like I did in the first place
You'd need to have MVAMS download the new Installation file, but don't just install "over" the old Version (as it keeps the faulty files in Reallight Folder, still causing reallight initialization errors).
Better cancel the installation at this point, move to the "download" folder in the directory where MVAMS is located and copy the new installation file to a safe place. Then uninstall your previous version (I always do a restart of my system after that) and then use the new installer.
Happy flying!
