MVAMS Update Deleted F-4E
Before starting a flight on 16th July, I opened MVAMS to make a small setting adjustment ... selected F-4E, and was promptly advised that and "update to this product" was available. I proceeded with this "update" .. and eventually responded to the request box to select P3D ver4, and tick the "delete" box ... expecting to have the old program replaced by an update. The delete proceeded, but nothing else happened. I then opened my flight sim to find that my F-4E was no longer available ... deleted from P3D !!!
What did I do Wrong??
I am concerned that I may screw-up P3D if I get the recovery proceedure wrong, so kindly advise what steps to take ... I have a back-up of my original download, but assume that if there is in fact an update, I will need to start-over with a fresh download from your Web site; in this case need I first search my computer for remenant F4Efiles to manually delete ??

You ran the uninstaller. You need to re-run the installer to install it again. Don't open the AMS yet. Instead, right click on it, and open file location. Go to the Downloads folder and copy the installer exe out of there and run it again as admin.

Curious, what happens if you don't uninstall first before updating?

I haven't always been able to replicate this reliably but sometimes it fails to overwrite files that it should. Uninstall removes the files from the picture so you can be certain that it puts the new files in.

Ah, ok. I normally delete and reinstall. Problem is whenever there's an update I have to back up and reinstall all of my added repaints after the fact. I also add the default FSX GPS as a backup NAV tool.

Re: MVAMS Update Deleted F-4E
OK, I did follow your instructions, which allowed the AMS to again display the F-4E, plus the "update" message. I again ran the installer (this time from the Downloads file) but did not tick the "Delete Tacam" (can't recall the spelling) box. I selected P3D v.4 and the installer did it's thing.
I opened P3D and selected P-4E .. the aircraft showd up on screen as cockpit view, but there is no further animation apart from sound. P3D crashes to desktop as soon as I click to do anything! ???
What now?

Check your email.
Also please go to your P3D main directory and find the sim1.dll. Right click on it and go to properties->Details and send me the version number.

Re: MVAMS Update Deleted F-4E
Are you disabling your anti-virus software before downloading and during the install?

Just to confirm that I followed Jon's instructions (yes, I did disable my anti-virus, and ran the install as Administrator) after which all now working OK ... Many thanks to all for the assistance given.
