Can't get FULL flaps
To begin with, I think this is all MY fault. So now that we have that squared away, I can tell you what my problem is:
I can't lower the flaps to FULL position (I guess that's "Down and out").
Long story: I was confident turning off the Estonian Migration Tool would be enough before install, but then my cockpit illumination didn't work and I got no afterburner effects etc etc...so I had to uninstall the tool altogether AND delete it's entry from dll.xml...THEN I installed everything regarding the F-4 again and got things fully functional!!! (except the flaps, because you ARE supposed to be able to lower them all the way, right?)
I've tried running P3D as admin, set up the flaps in various ways but even if I use the mouse to click full flaps down - nothing happens. The flaps only go one "notch" down (takeoff position) and that's that.
Could it be that all my messing around has "damaged" my aircraft.cfg?
Please, anyone, could you compare it with your own?
The only entries I have regarding flaps are these:
[flaps.0]
type = 1 // 1 - tail, 2 - lead
span-outboard = 1.0 // 0.0 .. 1.0
extending-time = 9999 // seconds
flaps-position.0 = -10 // degrees
flaps-position.1 = 0 // 38 degrees
flaps-position.2 = 10 // degrees
maneuvering_flaps= 0
lift_scalar = 0.0
drag_scalar = 0.0
pitch_scalar = 1.0
[flaps.1]
type = 2 // 1 - tail, 2 - lead
span-outboard = 1.0 // 0.0 .. 1.0
extending-time = 9999 // seconds
flaps-position.0 = -10 // degrees
flaps-position.1 = 0 // 38 degrees
flaps-position.2 = 10 // degrees
maneuvering_flaps= 0
lift_scalar = 1.0
drag_scalar = 0.0
pitch_scalar = 0.0
Shouldn't there be more? I've tried making a [flaps.2] but that didn't work either
So YES, I'm most probably the moron here but as this aircraft is one of the coolest I've flown and I'm so close to getting it FULLY functional - any help whatsoever is greatly appreciated.
(Now over the past few days, I've become quite the expert in landing this thing half-cocked but I DO hope you understand my predicament).
cheers
Robin Takolander
EDIT: Oh yeah, I forgot one more screwup...I downloaded a pack of really great looking skins and didn't think twice about just replacing the aircraft.cfg with the new one included. Not for ONE damn second thinking about me having the ADV-version and this pack having been made for the regular version...

Re: Can't get FULL flaps
1: The F-4E doesn't quite have 2 flap positions. It only has one. The flap lever however, does have 2 positions. The logic is as follows:
Up: Flaps up and slats retracted.
Out: If the landing gear is down, flaps down as well as slats extended, else only slats extended.
Out and Down: Provided you are below the flaps extension speed, the flaps and slats extend regardless of landing gear position.
So the question is, though the flaps only go to one position, is the flap lever (on the left sidewall of the cockpit) moving once more after the first position?
With that in mind, the biggest factor in landing is weight. Make sure you are below the max landing weight displayed in the loadout manager.
As for the livery package, the liveries will work in the ADV. Just don't copy over the rest of the aircraft cfg.

Re: Can't get FULL flaps
WHAT?!?! [eerie silence]
I mean c'mon, man...you know how much time I've spent on this? I've been lookin' around, trying to figure shit out...JEEEESUS!
Well well, big thanks anyways. I think this must have been the best introduction ever. Yeah, I'm the official forum fool now
As for the aircraft.cfg - I have the liveries working now by just copying over the corresponding pointers to a backup file.
And yeah, I can get the lever in all three positions. But only one "notch" down on the flaps. Which is OK then, I guess.
Again, BIG THANKS mr Bleeker-man!

All this to say, without rancor, please RTFM. (read the .... manual)

Re: Can't get FULL flaps
I get what you mean but trust me, I looked through every manual regarding the flaps handling. Couldn't find any notion of these flaps only having one position. Now of course, a regular Joe wouldn't mind but as I've flown the F-4B earlier (Simworks), of course I had to make problems for myself

Re: Can't get FULL flaps
Hi again. It seems I have the exact same problem with the F-4J now (just bought it).
According to what I've read so far, the F-4J should be able to extend FULL flaps. Or am I wrong again?
Bottom line: Can anyone tell me how to get full flaps for the F-4J? I just can't do carrier landings with half flaps.
I mean it's borderline insane attempting them
I've tried all kinds of combos here in the AMS. I've now even gone so far to just using the mouse and clicking on the flaps handle.
First click makes the handle move and the flaps go half way out - second click makes the handle go down but no action from the flaps, they just stay in half position. This F-4J being a carrier aircraft - I just can't feature I'm supposed to land with half flaps.
I mean I can't even feature the F-4E is only having half flaps available - landing the F-4E is always a total nightmare.

Re: Can't get FULL flaps
If you have both versions installed (F-4E ADV + F-4J/S ADV) make sure you are selecting a F-4J from the F-4J/S package. The F-4E also includes a F-4J version but with the same "E" flight model and FCS.Robin_T wrote: ↑Sat May 12, 2018 4:25 pmHi again. Make sure you´re selecting a F-4J with "F-4J" in the Manufacturer column (not "F-4E"). It´s easy to make this mistake.
(as check you can select a F-4S -no mistakes with this- and extend flaps to FULL)

Hey, Alvaro...you the man!
I mean AWWWRRRMYYGAAAAD, that was exactly the case!
Sweet Jesus! Tried it in a real F-4J now and the flaps work, all the way.
(No wonder it was so hard connecting the hook to them wires...)
