Function of the External tanks select switch.
I have spent several hours evaluating the F-4E ADV. (TacPac installed but not the Add-on).
Operating always as a "ferry" flight, no armaments selected.
I understand that, with a full fuel load, the centre external tank should be selected before T/O. I get about 227 miles duration before the Telelight illuminates. I then switch to Outbaord tanks, then the mid-position of the selector switch after all three Telelights go ON. The fuel indicator then again resumes it's count-down from the mains.
I have noticed that, once I select either Centre or Outboard tanks, (and the fuel counter stops), then selecting the mid-position of the selector switch has no effect ... in other words, once any of the outboard tanks are selected, then I choose to return to the "Inboard" selector (centre) position (when I would have expected the fuel counter to count-down again) the fuel counter remains stopped.
Does this mean that the Fuel selector switch, when moved off-centre. automatically engages the outboard feeds and that condition persists untill all outboard tanks are empty, irrespective of any further changes made to this selector switch?
Congrats. to the MILVIZ Team for such superb product!
