How do you get the strobe lights to work ? I never had the FSX model and I'm using the 310 in P3D 4.1

The answer is in page 2-3 of the manual.
Also, I dont think the plane is compatible with 4.1. You need to be in 4.2

As far as I'm aware, the only feature that I know won't work in v4.1 is the WX Radar.

It was downloaded with the virus protections all off. Everything works just fine with 4.1 except the strobe lights. Any ideas how to light them up?

We don’t supply support for anything other than v4.2.
You will have to update so that we can test wth you.

The .fx files were created and tested only for P3Dv4.2 as that's the only version I have available now. I simply have no way of providing any assistance. However, do check your ..\Effects folder to make sure MilVizC310_strobe.fx and MilVizC310_strobeGS.fx are present.
Alternatively, look for any of the default "strobe" type .fx files and copy/paste/rename twice and give them the above names.

I have tried your suggestion of coping and renaming the strobes and placing in the effect folder but I must be doing something wrong, its not working.

Did you reinstall the C310R Redux after updating to P3Dv4.2? That may help. This is truly strange... Silly question time: you did turn on the strobe light switch right?

I reinstalled the a/c after up dating to 4.2 still no lights. Yes the strobe light switch has been on.
I don't understand the rename twice, copy/paste/rename twice . I appreciate all the help.

There are two .fx versions for strobe lights, one for on the ground (with the _GS suffix) and the other for when in the air. Up until P3Dv4 there were no "ground reflections/splashes" for lights. Because of this I wanted non-P3Dv4 users to have that cool effect in their sim.
So, I crafted special .fx for strobes and nav lights that provided this effect, but it would have looked silly when flying to have "ground splashes" whenever there was no ground! Hence the normal effect files are used instead.

I have been doing some checking and I find that all the light files have been placed in an effects folder. The 310 is loaded in the sim object folder
under airplanes the effects folder is in this folder, I don't know if this correct or not. All the exterior lights work except the strobes, there is no ground splash for any lights. Hope this gives you some idea as to what might correct this problem.

I've noticed the strobes behave different during day vs. dusk/dawn/night - specifically when the world night lighting comes on the strobes "ground splash" works correctly, during the day the strobe ground splash doesn't work correctly ... at a 45 degree angle.
Cheers, Rob

The strobes are not working day or night. No lights on the a/c no ground splash-nothing.

Do you have the original 310?
