Gauges hard to see

Installed the 310 redux with FSX accelerated and Windows 7. When flying most headings there appears to be a heavy shadow across the panel that makes the gauges hard to see. At some headings the shadow goes away. I could not turn on any panel lights, either by rotating the knobs or using shift-L. Also for night flying there are no panel lights except the avionics which are always on.Things I have tried, without having any effect, are (1) in display settings uncheck any boxes for aircraft shadows, (2) in aircraft realism make sure box for pilot controlled lights is checked, (3) updated video driver. I reinstalled the old 310R and there are no shadows across the panel, and the lights are operable. At this point I have reached my limit of computer knowledge.
