KAP 140 ALT
Hello,
When I am flying straight and level, AP already engaged, Altitude selected, captured and in cruise mode (ALT displayed), selecting the ALT button does not swap into VS mode. VS displays for a a sec or two then reverts back into ALT mode. I believe I should be able to select ALT button to engage VS mode and select up/dn to command FPS climb/Desc and while in a climb/desc. use the rotory knob to select a new altitude then arm.
Win10 64
p3d v4.2
Thanks,
Steve

Re: KAP 140 ALT
Hi,
If you are in ALT mode, and ALT PRESELECT is captured, as soon as you command VS mode (by pressing ALT), current altitude is automatically captured (because it coincides with the preselected) and mode reverts back to ALT.
To command a climb/descend when ALT PRESELECT is captured you first need to preselect another altitude, then press ALT to switch to VS mode and use the UP/DN keys for the rate of climb/descend.

Re: KAP 140 ALT
I have read the manual.....thank you though. Maybe my interpretation is wrong.
From page 15 of your manual:
To initiate a climb or descent from Altitude Hold (ALT) mode:
1. ALT button - Press. Note ALT changes to VS and current vertical speed is displayed.
2. UP or DN button – Select desired climb or descent rate. Each button stroke will increment the vertical speed commanded up or down by 100 ft/min per button press, or at the rate of approximately 300 ft/min per second if held continuously.
What i can't find in the manual is what Taguilo said.

Re: KAP 140 ALT
I agree it is not explicit in the manual; neither it is in the original source (though there is a reference regarding Alt Preselect behavior).
Anyway that is the way it works.

Re: KAP 140 ALT
Tomas.
I have downloaded the manual from Bendix King and have read it as well. It appears that from ALT pressure hold you should still be able to select VS mode from ALT button selection and enter a climb or descent. After a 200ft deviation from pre select ALT you should receive a visual ALERT warning-until a 1000ft- on the device as well as a 5 button tone after the 1st 200ft. The way you describe it should work as well and seems to be the desired method. I agree the manual is a bit vague and general in its nature. I have no experience with any real life KAP140. I enjoy this A/C very much and am enjoying its upgrades from the original. If this is not how it works, then very well. If you mean to say this is not how it works in this sim, then very well.
Thank you very much.

Re: KAP 140 ALT
I too believe there is a flaw here, but I figured out a workaround. When in ALT mode, click and hold the ALT button and drag your mouse off the button. This will put you in VS mode. Likewise, if you are climbing or descending and want to level off immediately, click, hold and drag the ALT button and it will level off in ALT mode. The behavior is now consistent with other KAP 140 units in my other payware planes. Let me know if this works for you.

Re: KAP 140 ALT
Hi,
There is indeed an issue with the ALT button on the VC (not in the 2D popup), that is sending the command twice per press.
It has been fixed and coming up in the next release.
Thanks!
