RealLight - Really?

Post by boez » Sat Mar 17, 2018 10:32 am

You advertise the 310Redux as using RealLight technology - do you mean the RealLight system by TFDi Design?

If so then I'm confused - when RealLight was added to the TFDi 717 it completely eliminated the ugly 'solarisation' effect on texture that had effected night time lighting until then yet I still see that awful effect in the 310 when turning on the cabin light (and to a lesser extent the panel lights). Jumping back into the 717 and switching on the cabin lights = no solarisation.

Furthermore no RealLight.dll appears to be installed by your app (I checked by temporarily moving the existing RealLight.dll from the 717 and re-installing the 310) and finally why is Milviz_Lighting_Service.exe still needed?

Maybe I've installation issues but if not them I'm disapointed that the quality of RealLight is not the same as in the 717 (TrueGlass gives the same excellent effect I'm pleased to say).

I have the same visual problem but thought it was due to my low texture resolution setting (1024x1024)

Edit: FSX+A on Windows 7 64bit if that matters

If you are not using P3D 4.2, Realight will not function and it will use the MV nightlighting tech.

I'm working today on sorting out the issues. By default, the Milviz lighting system is used for every sim version except P3Dv4.2, the latter being the only version that supports RealLight. Apparently I screwed the pooch on the installer script as it is currently not installing the RealLight system when installing to P3Dv4.2...

I offer my most profound apologies to everyone for my error.

Hi all,

one question regarding the Reallight feature. I've read a lot about the v4.2 other not supported. I can follow and accept Milviz point to only support v4.2. But I'm on v4.1 and as expected (like Tfdi itself is supporting both products fully v4.X and I have the fully working 717 installed) it is all working like a charm in my eyes. Both trueglass and reallight. But how do I know if Reallight is fully working? If I have fully working smooth lighting using the four rheostat knobs on the side panel its working? Are there any screenshots or videos for the 310 Redux to show what to expect?

Cheers
Thorsten

If the lights dim and brighten, then it's working.

If you're using 4.1 and ask for further support, you will not get it.

Please update to 4.2.

I'm now being told by user Milviz on the avsim forum that RealLight *is* being installed but just not the high resolution bitmaps (I can confirm they are 1024x1024 on my v4.2 install) - this leaves me as just a confused customer hoping the SP sorts the issue one way or the other :(

The information as posted by me over at Avsim is the correct response to the situation.

It will be resolved with the SP.

Ah okay. Sorry if I'm persistent with this matter I'm just uncomfortable with what may appear to be conflicting information. I'll keep quiet now :)
