Fuel Flow Gauge

Post by ian7griffith » Sun Jun 10, 2018 9:03 pm

I have noticed some strange behavior from the fuel flow gauge in this aircraft. I don't know if its due to limitations in the ESP engine, or just a bug, but sometimes it does not operate quite like it should. Firstly, when you prime the engines for engine start, the fuel flow gauge should show roughly 75-85lbs of fuel flow while the primer is in use. The primer simply activates the left or right aux pumps to put fuel into the engine and thus should show on the fuel gauge. I found that the needles on the gauge did nothing while priming the engines.

I then noticed some strange behavior during flight when leaning the mixtures. Sometimes while leaning, the fuel gauge reaches a point where the fuel flow starts climbing again while leaning the mixtures. This doesn't make sense as leaning the mixture can no way increase the fuel flow, that is the opposite of what leaning the mixtures accomplishes.

That said though, fairly small issue, but certainly breaks immersion a bit, especially during the startup process. The aircraft overall is wonderful and a joy to fly. I received my commercial multi engine rating in a C310R and this addon does a pretty fantastic job, the flight model is on point, so kudos for that!

In the sim the fuel pumps don't affect fuel pressure or fuel flow. :(

Ah interesting, that's a shame. I kinda figured it was a limitation of the sim. Bit strange considering all fuel pumps do is affect fuel pressure and flow.

While it is easy to understand that pressure would be affected, what is not clear is why flow would be affected; after all, the fuel isn't actually "flowing" anywhere when the engine(s) are not running. :?:
