Issues with the Beaver?
Hi team Milviz,
Some comments/questions regarding the Beaver release.
First off, awesome aircraft. My best friend and I are both commercial pilots and were eager for this product. My best friend has hundreds of hours on type. He was amazed he was able to use his known start procedure to start this aircraft successfully. We both took turns on my Prepar3D installation with the aircraft and loved it. Within the restrictions of a PC based simulation, we were both impressed. I did have some things that I/we both immediately noticed.
First was, the aircraft we both wanted to fly was missing. In your screen pictures you have a Beaver in a brown and taupe paint scheme that is missing. The thumbnail image is found in the N1117F file but the textures are different. We really want the beige variant badly...
Second, when the prop lever is moved the propeller blade angle changes when the engine is not running.??? The hub uses oil pressure from the engine to change blade angle. The engine must be running for this to occur obviously. It's impossible to move a propeller blade to course without the engine running on a single engine constant speed propeller aircraft.
Third, where are the interior window reflections? In the VC it looks like the windows are completely absent in Prepar3D v3.4. There is nothing to indicate there is anything between me in the VC and the outside world.
Otherwise great aircraft, we're both glad you did it and can't wait to use it in Prepar3D v4, thanks Milviz.
Cheers,
Thad

Re: Issues with the Beaver?
Hi,
great job, beautiful aircraft, i love it...
What i noticed:
+ (like Thad) i miss the brown and taupe livery from the promo-pictures
+ there is no off position for the fuel
+ you can't reach the off position for the ignition switch
+ turn the cabin light on and off is delayed
+ you can't select the Weather-Radar when GTN750 is selected
+ i can't get the Weather-Radar to work
BTW, first time in an aircraft-model that i can see the blade angle changing. It looks great for me as an amateur. But if it can't be without oil-pressure, it has to be removed

Raller

Re: Issues with the Beaver?
Hi Raller,
Just some points for you on your questions.
The Beaver does not have a "OFF" position on the fuel tank selector. Milviz has the selector modeled correct. There is no user fuel shutoff in the Beaver other than the Emergency Fuel and Oil shutoff lever on the right side of the lower center pedestal. This lever is lockwired in the down position to inhibit its use. In the event of an emergency (engine fire) the pilot will pull the lever up sharply breaking the lockwire in the process.
You can reach the magneto switch by clicking on the yoke and moving it to the right. This will swing it over to the co-pilots side and if you keep going remove it completely. Use the left mouse button to move the magneto switch from OFF through to Right, Left and Both. Right clicking will move the switch back through Both, Left and Right but not to OFF. Click your center mouse button or wheel to move it back to the OFF position. Milviz may have done this intentionally to prevent inadvertent movement to the OFF position when conducting a magneto check during run-up.
I believe you need to have the Milviz/REX WX Advantage Radar gauge purchased and installed for the weather radar to work. You didn't mention it you had it or not.
Cheers,
Thad

Re: Issues with the Beaver?
Hi Thad,
ah, ok, thanks a lot for you explanations.
Its my understanding (from the decription of the Beaver and the Live-Stream on AirDailyX) that the Weather-Radar is fully included in this Aircraft?!
I think there are a few little issues that will be corrected by the Milviz-Team in the next time. In the meantime i enjoy flying this great Aircraft. Again, great job...

Re: Issues with the Beaver?
The WX is included in the product but will not work with any other aircraft except the Beaver.
The missing livery should now be on the website (free to download).
We are going to work out the AMS bugs starting on Sunday-Monday. We need a break after the final push.
We are, however, sending out a new installer that includes a working updater as well as the "license error" fix and this should go out today or tmrw and will also be posted in the support forum.
Note: all support issues posted in the general forum will NOT be answered (or they will be moved).
Thanks for your patience.

Thanks Colin
So far as I can see, there isn't a support forum for the Beaver at this point.
Have a good rest - you deserve it, it's one hell of a plane.

Re: Issues with the Beaver?
There is one. You must ask Osh (aka doodlebug or oisin at milviz dot com) to let you in (you'll have to show proof of purchase for this).
The same goes for any new product in our lineup.

Re: Issues with the Beaver?
Middle Mouse button clicks are used here to prevent accidental setting to off .
We had listed that in tooltips but depending on window and setting they are not necessarily displayed
Best CJ

Re: Issues with the Beaver?
Hi again Raller, I was incorrect about the fuel selector valve not having an "OFF" position, my apologies, I didn't see it under the handle in the "Rear" tank position which is used up first when flying the aircraft. This handle too uses the center mouse button or wheel to switch it to "OFF" to prevent inadvertent selection, a rather clever setting in my opinion.Raller wrote:Hi Thad,

Re: Issues with the Beaver?
I observed a few more additional anomalies for reporting.
- The radios (default Bendix King), both NAV and COM are displaying a third place element after the decimal point. They are just partially visible behind the display window openings.
- The Bendix King transponder IDENT light does not pulse when set to "ON" or "ALT". Pressing the IDENT button does not illuminate it either, doing so usually illuminates the indicator steady for about 3 to 4 seconds.
- When the aircraft was parked engine off with the parking brake set, the aircraft slowly rotated into the direction of the wind (weathervaned) with a 10 knot wind.
- Carb heat lever takes multiple sweeping drags of the mouse to even move it slightly. Far too cumbersome to use in flight in its current form. Mouse scroll would be better and more intuitive with direction.
Still having fun with it!
Cheers,
Thad

Re: Issues with the Beaver?
I cannot reproduce that. Even with ~40 knts lateral wind the Beaver shakes but doesn't move. Perhaps could be a ground friction issue? Are you using FSUIPC or modified SIM1.DLL ?High Iron wrote: - When the aircraft was parked engine off with the parking brake set, the aircraft slowly rotated into the direction of the wind (weathervaned) with a 10 knot wind.
We might consider adding a mouse scroll. Anyway, using the H key (or whatever key mapped to CH) will put the handle in position for proper heat depending on current conditions.High Iron wrote: - Carb heat lever takes multiple sweeping drags of the mouse to even move it slightly. Bear in mind Carb Heat may be used in hot weather to lower CHT while on the ground and so preserve engine's health.

Re: Issues with the Beaver?
I do use FSUIPC. I don't believe I have a modified SIM1.DLL, at least I've never tinkered with it. I was getting the shaking in the VC with the engine not running. I was on dirt and not a paved runway. The aircraft was turning to the left at a rate of about 1° per 15 seconds. I used SHIFT+Z to check the wind direction, it was coming from 241°@ 10kts, the aircraft was facing about 300°Magnetic as it pivoted slowly to the left. I left it alone to see if indeed it was weathervaning. After about 15 minutes the aircraft stopped pivoting when it reached about 250°Magnetic. I landed in a dry wash 10 NM SE of Palm Springs airport next to a golf course so it was not an "official" airstrip, if this would make any difference or not I'm not sure. The ground did have a gentle 2° slope going downhill from South to North so the parked aircraft was banked about 2° to the right on the ground. Nothing I did would stop the pivoting until it stopped on its own nearly pointing directly into the wind.Taguilo wrote:High Iron wrote: - When the aircraft was parked engine off with the parking brake set, the aircraft slowly rotated into the direction of the wind (weathervaned) with a 10 knot wind.Taquilo wrote:I cannot reproduce that.
