Installed the new installer - still no water sounds for me in p3d v4.
Landing at the airport get the chirp when the wheels hit the pavement but nothing when the floats hit the water - tried turning environment sounds to max and still nothing.

Hello,

I installed today's installer, and still had no water sounds on FSXA, Win 7 64. On Chuck's suggestion, I cranked up my Environment sound volume to 100 in the sim. Still could not notice water sounds. I then cranked all other sound volumes (engine, cockpit etc) to zero, with the environment volume at 100, and my headset volume turned all the way up.

Water sounds! They're FAR too faint - in the above configuration, I could hear them but they were still too low - but they're there! They're just being overpowered by everything else... even the sound of the wind and tires rumbling on pavement is unpleasantly loud in the above configuration, and I can barely hear the water sounds. But they ARE there.

So who knows why they're behaving this way on my system... is there anything I can try tweaking? I adjusted "minimum_sound" and "maximum_sound" for GROUND_ROLL4 and GROUND_ROLL5 in the sound.cfg files in Sound and Sound.1 to 10,000, which Microsoft says is the max value for this parameter, and it's still far too faint, though I think I can just barely hear the touchdown now, with Engines and Cockpit volumes set at 60, and environment at 100.

Thanks...

Same here... the 1.0.0.15 version from today, still no (or rather, too faint to be usable) water sounds.

Tried the trick about disabling Windows' utility for lowering sound when it detects comm; no effect. Which I didn't really expect it to have an effect, considering the rest of my FSXA sounds work just fine; as does this one, in every other plane. Still, worth a try, thanks.

The thing is, while I can understand why it might seem to you guys to be a system-specific issue, you have to understand that's a matter of perspective: to me, it's more of a Milviz-Beaver-specific issue, considering this same exact sound effect works properly with every single other seaplane I have installed. It is literally ONLY the MV Beaver that has this problem.

So there must be SOMETHING different in your implementation of this sound, right?

Thanks...

Thank you, Chuck! The new Beaver service pack - 17-06-19 has brought water sounds to my Beaver. On my system (FSX-SE, Win 10 64 bit) they are present but very faint. I'm wondering, Chuck if there is a way for us to tweak something to increase their volume? Believe me, I am thrilled to have them at all since they were simply not there before your latest update. I know I am sounding "picky" and believe me I am very glad to have them now. I sincerely hope that I can do something to increase their volume since they are overshadowed by the ambient wind sounds and those of the engine. I have adjusted the FSX-SE sound volume controls to no avail. Increasing the "environment sound slider only seems to increase the ambient wind.

Thanks again, Chuck!

Same here - water sounds but extremely faint- In fact I had to turn off the engine sounds to even hear them.
This in p3d v4 - wonder if there is something inherently different as to how p3d v4 is handling those sounds?

Same here - in FSXA, I have the (now custom) water sounds but they're still too faint to hear over the wind and engine. When I play the wav file directly from the sim folder, it's plenty loud... but not in the sim. For the heck of it, I opened the wav in a sound editor and boosted the gain way up. It's now far too loud to listen to directly, but in the sim I can now hear when I touch down, though it's still kinda weak.

EDIT: the above references the MVAMS live update that came out on the 19th; I see a brand new installer came out later last night. Haven't tried that yet.

I have played around with the sound.cfg file together with the system sounds and the sound settings on FSX-SE after downloading and installing Chuck's latest upgrade to the Beaver. I now have pretty good water taxi sounds whereas before they were present but very weak and easily overpowered by the engine and wind sounds. Here is what I did:

PLEASE BE SURE TO BACK-UP YOUR EXISTING SOUND.CFG FILE BEFORE ATTEMPTING THE FOLLOWING MODIFICATIONS !

On my system the sound.cfg file is located at:
Steam/SteamApps/Common/FSX/SimObjects/Airplanes/DHC-2 Milviz Floats/Sound

Scroll down to the [WIND_SOUND] section and change the following entry to:
maximum_volume=9000
(everything else remains the same

Scroll down to the [HYDROPLANE_SPLASH] section and change the following entry to:
maximum_speed=30
(everything else remains the same)

Now make the following changes to your system and simulator:
Win 10 sound volume mixer FSX-SE setting should be approx 40-45%

FSX-SE sound settings are:
Engine- 23
Cockpit- 47
Environment- 100
Voice- 42

The above changes and settings bring a very acceptable level of water taxi and splashdown sounds to my Beaver float. I wish to thank Chuck again for working to get these sounds on my system via his latest upgrade.

You, of course take these actions at your own risk as they will not be supported. Additionally, expect new sound.cfg files to arrive with any new Beaver upgrades and so you might have to perform these actions again.

Hope this helps

John

tried jotayhen's settings - with a few minor changes (upped the engine a bit and reduced the wind a bit more) and things are good in the ole beaver,,, 8-)

well, installed the latest update and purchased and installed the expansion pack and unfortunately the water sounds are broken - I get only a weird hum. Not sure what sound is being called up but it's definetly not a splash or hydroplane sound...

Edit: This in Prepar3D V4

I've done everything I can think of:
Uninstalled the expansion pack and the update
Restarted windows
Re-downloaded the update
Installed the update into P3D v4

Still the weird water sounds on touchdown and taxing inP3D v4

Anything else I might try?

I'm seeing this on FSX-A as well; water sounds have been replaced by a sort of hum.
