MPG not working occasionally?
I recently got the Beaver package both the Spray and Play and the original package. Absolutely love it and as they say bush flying is for the soul!
Anyways I have a similar that others are having. Sometimes my MPG works and sometimes it does not. For the first 5 weeks I owned the program it worked perfectly and never an issue but the other day I installed the Milviz Otter package and got some kind or error during install. Ever since then my Beaver MPG is only working intermittently and I am sure some other stuff is not working either. I reinstalled the needed Microsoft libraries that I could find. I think some of them have been incorporated into later updates and some are not available now.
I thought I had it fixed as my MPG worked for a few days but mysteriously last night it was not working again. Turned off the computer and rebooted and launched FSX again and it worked normally. Installed some scenery started FSX again and no MPG gauge again. Turned computer off and rebooted and launched FSX and still no MPG gauge. Tried again this time not turning the computer off but re launching FSX and it worked again. However this morning it did not work from a cold computer reboot. Basically the MPG is working intermittently.
I have yet to try the Otter in detail as I am fighting this issue with the Beaver but the brief time I tried it the Otter worked. I am not sure if it has anything to do with the issue I am now having anyway but the problems started after I installed the Otter.
My next step was to reinstall the necessary DLL file in the Beaver Aircraft folder but not sure which one for FSX? I believe 4 different types in there!
Using FSX Acceleration Boxed version
Windows 10

Re: MPG not working occasionally?
I may have solved my own problem "For Now"!
I simply reinstalled the XMLTools201 and my Beaver was working every time again. Actually noticed in improvement in other areas like lighting so it must have been tweaked from the beginning. I suspect that the XMLTools can easily get corrupted and cause problems. Probably why the installer is included in the base Beaver wheel version!
I suppose its also maybe possible that the XMLTools gets tweaked during Windows 10 updates. Microsoft is known to change some architecture so random things stop working. This might be why the forum lights up like clock work with the same issue on occasion. No idea if this is the case here but it has happened to me countless times with different software!
