Beaver Giving me a headache

Post by wkbclb » Wed Oct 04, 2017 12:48 am

Hi guys,
Purchased the Beaver (standard). Downloaded the zip (no antivirus active). Installed Beaver (once again, anti virus off). Problems: Manifold pressure gauge not working, the only way I can start it, following documented protocol, is with Control + E (FSX-Steam Edition) cannot find or get to Primer Handle, could only find documentation as to where it is located, but cannot get to it. when starter switch is flipped, there is a click only, no start. Not sure if this is a problem, but I'll list it anyway. The prop lever can only be moved using the mouse. I have a CH yoke with the levers and although the throttle and mixture levers operate with the yoke, the prop lever does not. Some items in the VC will show a label when the mouse cursor is on it, many won't. I am running Windows 10, an I7 950 and GTX750 ti (DX 11) along with 16 GB RAM. I also checked and have all the required C++ redistributables listed. Twice I have uninstalled and then reinstalled the Beaver, making sure antivirus is off. Same problems still exist with each reinstall. Would appreciate some help. All the reviews I had either read or watched, never seem to mention these issues, but I am unable to figure out what the problem may be, or perhaps it's just me. I have other 3rd party high end aircraft, haven't experienced these types of problems that could indicate what the issue may be with the Beaver. Think its a great looking aircraft though.

Order ID is: 0020004088, purchased on 09/19/2017

Appreciate any help sent my way.

Thanks,
Bill

I have both CH Yoke and Pedals. Both work in each of my sims: FSXA, FSX:SE, P3Dv1, v2, and v3.

The hand pump for fuel is located between the two front seats. About 6 strokes will bring up the pressure.
The primer is located to the left of the pilot's seat. You will have to shift your viewpoint to the left a bit so access it.

Prop pitch thing can be a pain to get working with the ch yoke but it will work. See my post linked below.

Oh yes, I forgot to mention that not all mousable items in the VC have ToolTips configured. Such things that are obvious for example do not have them.

Thanks for all replies. Not sure how to adjust my viewpoint in FSX-SE. I do not have the pay version of FSUIC. Just the free version. Also I found some install problems ( see Beaver giving me a headache #2), I can only select FSX:SE (side by side) and if I use that the XML Installer will not recognize that FSX is installed. Any suggestions?

Shift your viewpoint temporarily using the default keystrokes: Ctrl-Shift + Backspace (tap the Backspace key as often as needed).
Use Ctrl + Spacebar to reset viewpoint to default position.

Let me guess, you had the original FSX installed and then later installed FSX:SE without first uninstalling FSX original. This is why the XMLTools installer is failing. Hopefully Tomas will chime in with a method to fix this issue.

Hi,

Please unzip XMLTOOLS.ZIP in you main FSX:SE folder.

Then locate DLL.XML file which should be in \AppData\Roaming\Steam or Microsoft\FSX-SE (or something similar).
Edit the file and add another node :

<Launch.Addon>
<Name>XMLTools</Name>
<Disabled>False</Disabled>
<ManualLoad>False</ManualLoad>
<Path>XMLTools.dll</Path>
<DllStartName>module_init</DllStartName>
<DllStopName>module_deinit</DllStopName>
</Launch.Addon>

This should work.

YES!!!!!!! Just want to thank everyone for the help here. Ran FS Registry Repair ( yes, didn't uninstall all of FSX boxed, so registry was screwed up ), Reinstalled Beaver and it installed XML Tools. Added what Tom suggested to xml.ddl and low an behold.......I have a Beaver I can start, manifold pressure and prop lever working too. Appreciate the tip regarding adjusting the view in VC. Found and operated the primer! So at present, it appears that all is functioning now and I am no longer getting the fatal error when trying to exiting FSX:SE.

Thanks again to everyone, it was very frustrating, but with all the help and comments..........ALL APPEARS TO BE WELL!
