xml tools not found
• System OS: Windows 8.1
• Sim Version No.: FSX
• Sim Platform and Version No.: Steam Edition
• 3d Party Hardware/Software:
o Nvidia GTX 750 ti 2GB GPU
o Track IR
o Carenado Addons (Cessna Centurion T210, Cessna 208B Grand Caravan EX, Bonanza A36)
o Steam FSX Addons (FSX Active Sky Next, FSX Rex 4 Texture, FSX Rex Soft Clouds)
• Problem:
After deactivating McAfee live scan, I activated the MilViz DHC-2 Beaver 170829.exe installer file into "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\FSX". (Note: Although I had removed a previous boxed version of FSX, the only install option was “FSX Steam side by side”.) When I hit the “install” button after the files had been extracted, I got an error message that the "dll.xml file not found!" (unable to attach screenshot to this message).
The dll.xml file is actually in a different directory - C:\Users\Curtis_2\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\FSX-SE. After the incomplete installation, I checked but could not find the XML Tools.dll file in the FSX-Steam directory or anywhere else, although the message said that it had been “successfully installed in FSX’s main folder”. The FSX Steam dll.xml file follows:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="Windows-1252"?>
<SimBase.Document Type="Launch" version="1,0">
<Descr>Launch</Descr>
<Filename>dll.xml</Filename>

</Launch.Addon>
<Launch.Addon>

</Launch.Addon>

<Path>DLC\379546\Modules\A2A_Feel.dll</Path>
<DllStartName>module_init</DllStartName>
<DllStopName>module_deinit</DllStopName>
</Launch.Addon>
<Launch.Addon>
<Name>AccuFeelMenu</Name>

<ManualLoad>False</ManualLoad>
<Path>DLC\379546\Modules\AccuFeelMenu.dll</Path>
</Launch.Addon>
<Launch.Addon>
<Name>as_connect</Name>
<Disabled>False</Disabled>
<Path>DLC\364340\as_srv\as_btstrp.dll</Path>
</Launch.Addon>
</SimBase.Document>
As partially installed, I can load the DHC-2 Beaver, but the commands are erratic (brakes engaged and preventing the aircraft from moving in the water, with takeoff power applied).
Please advise how I can successfully complete the installation process. The installation status box provided that a manual search and update would be required. If this is a solution, what is required? And where would the MXL Tools.dll be located?
Thanks for your help!

Re: xml tools not found
Thanks for your suggestion. I did see that post, but the suggested fix won't work for me at this point because there is no XML Tools.dll file in the FSX directory or anywhere else. The log says that XML Tools.dll WAS installed, but it's not showing anywhere.

Re: xml tools not found
I have performed several installs of MilViz Beaver into FSX Steam, and in each case the xml tools.dll file was missing (notwithstanding that in each case the installer reported the xml tools.dll file had been successfully installed in the FSX main folder ????). When I downloaded the installer, I did so with McAfee real time scanning and firewall both off. I also deactivated real time scanning each time I did a fresh install of the DHC-2. I performed a full drive search for the file to confirm that it was nowhere to be found. I also confirmed that the file was not quarantined. I don’t know what else I can do to get the xml tools.dll file to install. Can someone please help me out on this. Thanks.

Re: xml tools not found
Got it! I did another install, and this time ran the xml tools installer manually. It installed the dll file in an old FSX directory, so I copied it, moved it over to the FSX Steam directory, amended the xml.dll file as recommended in another post, and everything seems to be working - lights, auto pilot, wx radar, etc.
