UH-1 Redux and P3DV4

Post by frpdm29 » Tue Oct 10, 2017 4:35 pm

Hello,
I bought yesterday the UH-1 Redux updated to P3D V4.
I installed it as administrator on my FSX Acceleration and on my P3DV4.

On FSX it turns perfectly.

However, on P3DV4, it crashes the software by closing it as soon as I run a flight. No error message.
The installation went well and the different helicopters appeared in the selection windows.
I have uninstalled and then reinstalled this addons without improvement.

A track to solve this problem?

Cordially.

Can you confirm that you have done everything outlined in this post: How to Fix most problems

I have had the exact same problem with the purchase from Just Flight. Not their fault though. I solved it by following all the suggestions one by one and it now works perfectly in P3D v4. It will take a little while as I would suggest changing one thing at a time and restarting P3D again to check the exe is working or not. With mine in particular it was the SimConnect.msi that I ran again and that fixed it. Don't asked me why because everything else in the sim worked perfectly it was just the UH-1. I hope that helps and now you know it does work it will not be so frustrating as it was for me as it took took nights of messing around but worth it in the end it's a great helicopter.

Thanks Martin-W
Interesting. So it could be a problem with simconnect.
How did you reinstall it?

What is surprising is that I downloaded version V1.170803 on Justflight site.
But when launching l.exe, it is the install of v1.161104 that appears ...with only two options:
- FSX-or-FSX:SE(stand-alone)
- Prepard3D v4.

Is this normal?

Yes. Our installers will only offer for those sim versions you actually have installed. :)

It is apparently the UH1_SYSTEM.dll located here
- simobjets/rotorcraft/MILVIZ_Bell_UH1H/panel/UH1_SYSTEM.dll
and
- simobjets/rotorcraft/MILVIZ_Bell_UH1C/panel/UH1_SYSTEM.dll
that crashes my P3DV4.
I have isolated it by renaming it in .ori and the flights are launched without problem.

That effectively wipes the systems for the aircraft entirely. Will check with Dutch.

If the UH1_SYSTEM.dll is deleted or renamed, the Huey won't have any systems. The primary symptom of this is that the gauge needles won't move.

See if there is a UH1.log in the root folder of your sim, and if so, please post the contents of it. That may give us a clue.

When for some reason the systems gauge doesn't load, the symptom is INOP gauges, not a crash. The main reasons for failure are incorrect or correct redistributables or an incorrect SimConnect wrapper.

We haven't see it cause a crash yet so this is new.

Thanks
Dutch

I have a test being conducted in the other thread about this problem. His may be different than yours, because he is FSX (32 bit) and you are P3Dv4, and his problem is not likely the same as yours. However, the test I asked him to conduct will tell us a lot.

Every time the systems gauge doesn't work so far it's been either missing or corrupt redistributables, or a missing or corrupt SimConnect wrapper.

Please confirm via the Control Panel, Programs and Features, that you have these two installed:

Microsoft Flight Simulator SimConnect Client v10.0.61259.0
Microsoft Visual C++ 2015 Redistributable (x64)

Also, if you could, please bring up the Huey (with NO other windows except Flight Sim open) and verify it still doesn't work, note the system time, then without doing anything else on your system, let's look at the Event Viewer and see if that gives a clue:

(These detailed instructions are for Windows 7 which I use if you have another version the details may be different but the objective is the same.

1. Open up Control Panel
2. Open up Administrative Tools
3. Double click 'Event Viewer'
4. Open up the tree 'Windows Logs'
5. Click on the item "Application"
6. In the small window right to the left, look for any recent ones with a red ! and the word ERROR.

If you find one around the same time as the Huey failed, click on it to see if it mentions UH1_SYSTEM in all the tech gobbledegook. Any error type log at the same time as you brought up the Huey may give us a clue even if it doesn't mention the UH1_SYSTEM directly. IF you see anything remotely suspicious, post the contents here (you can cut and paste those details.)

I know this is a bit of a pain, but we are seeing a problem here we haven't seen before and can't reproduce here (the Huey flies fine on my P3Dv4.1 system.)

Thanks
Dutch

If you right click on your Prepar3d, select Properties->Compatibility, please make sure "Run this program as administrator" is checked.
