Huey Problems FSX Steam Edition
Hello All,
Have just recently purchased the UH1 pack and very impressed and excited to fly this bird! Here are the problems I am having and a quick summary of my hardware:
Core i7 processor, 24 gigs Ram, Nvidia GTX 1080 card, Windows 10, 1TB Samsung SSD, A2a Accu-sim aircraft, Accufeel sounds, Megascenery (NV, WA, OR, CA) Natural Point head tracker, Thrustmaster Joystick throttle combo, Saitek rudder pedals, FSX Steam Edition.
I have an A2A P-51d set as the default flight with 0% fuel to simulate cold and dark. Have not been able to get a cold and dark module to work on Steam.
My problem is I bought the Huey, stupidly didn't read directions and initially installed with anti-virus software active. Launched the program, all helicopters and configurator show up, add gauges as trusted software messages showed up, but when launched, Huey had no doors, no pilot or co-pilot, and when using auto-start flight gauges work but engine gauges and tach are all dead. None of the configurator items will show either (crew, guns etc...). The bird appears externally fine, flies and sounds fine but with many gauges inop. Also no way to manual start as many key start switches aren't working.
I followed the common questions and uninstalled re downloaded and installed with all AV software off and running as admin but nothing fixes the problem. Wondering if I need to clean out the registry (have searched and been unsuccessful to do so) or if I am missing something big.
Thanks for the help, I am excited to get this Huey up and running!

I would load a default plane before loading the Huey. I think the P51 is interfering in some way with the Huey

Thanks for the quick response. I changed the default flight to the stock Cessna 172 and re-installed Huey. No change, unfortunately.

Also when the Huey (UH1-H) is rotating in the free flight menu, the rear seat crewman appears half between the rear bulkhead and the door. Don't know if that helps at all...

The fact that you can only run Steam online gives me the idea that you have a bad install of the sim.
It should run all the time, on or offline.
I'm going to go out on a limb here and suggest (strongly) that you reinstall... possibly not just the sim but also windows.
Sorry.

Your symptoms are showing clearly that neither the MVAMS program nor the gauge DLL are operational.
These are both special programs that run under the sim and communicate with it to make the Huey operate realistically.
When this happens it's almost always one of two things: a security issue, or an installation issue.
If you remove the Huey and re-install as Administrator, and are running FSX-SE as Administrator, and have your anti-virus disabled, that should eliminate security as a block.
I agree that it's mostly likely an installation issue. It's very odd that you can only run online.
In the last 7 years I've had to re-install FSX twice because it fell over and couldn't get back up. It's a huge PITA to do that, I know.

I don't think werner76 mentions having to run online.

Re: Huey Problems FSX Steam Edition
Thanks for the advice. I really appreciate the help! I believe FSXSE installed to my hard drive but I cannot right click it to run as admin. My theory is that maybe there is something hanging on from the first Huey install that is messing everything up. Where would I look to ensure all traces of the Huey are removed before I reinstall it the correct recommended way? The reason I believe this is that the first time I ran the Huey FSXSE gave me the "do you want to run as trusted software?" for the gauges when I first selected the Huey in free flight. This message never came up again after the repeated reinstall attempts which tells me the gauges may be remaining in the FSXSE folders.
I could be dead wrong, but would there be any advice to chase this down?
Appreciate it,

Not all gauges are removed when uninstalling because they are shared among several of the Milviz products. Anyway, once they are "approved" you won't be asked again.
You should have an Icon on your desktop. Right-click on that and choose to run as administrator.

I should have mentioned...that doesn't work with FSX SE because the shortcut is a different kind. It starts steam instead and tells steam to run FSX SE. So you need to set steam to run as admin (although you will get an annoying compatibility message each time you start it), or go to the fsx.exe location in your steam location and set it there to run as admin.

Re: Huey Problems FSX Steam Edition
Helpful ideas. I will try tonight and see if this solves the issues. I sue Windows Defender for AV items. What do I disable on that as they give many items on the AV settings to be disabled?
Thanks again,

Thanks for the info. I will try that as well. Quick question, I use Windows Defender for AV and it gives a list of AV items to disable. Should I disable all of them during the installation and download?
