P38 Tacpack

Post by Leggo » Sun Jan 15, 2017 2:23 pm

Hi.
I have read the support regarding the guns and lights (instrument/cockpit) which i am having the same problem.
I have looked in the "texture" folder and the mv_nl is there but when i left click it it states that the p38 lights has stopped working please report it now.
I have also downloaded the most recent P38 file and the situation is still the same. Can anyone help me please

I'm not entirely certain what is happening with the guns as this user appears to have gotten it solved: viewtopic.php?f=110&t=5674

As for the cockpit light, do not try to run the mv_nl.exe in the texture folder. It is automatically executed and is dependent on the simulator. Please make sure you are running your simulator as admin by right clicking on your fsx/prepar3d.exe, and selecting properties->Compatibility->Run this program as administrator.

Hi and thank you for getting back to me.
Running the administrator has sorted the lights out...thank you.
As for the guns, I can fire them but there is no effect on the ground or in the air. Totally baffled.
kind regards

If there is no effect on the ground then they are not firing as that is controlled by TACPACK. You are sure they are loaded and that you correctly armed them?

Hi
As far as I know the tacpack is working fine. I have other tacpack aircraft and everything seems to be OK.
What is also happening is that i am unable to key command the firing controls from key board to joystick.
Even the lights do not work with the "L" key.
Kind regards

The firing controls are in your TACPACK manager. How is that set up? Also the controls to arm the weapons are mouse only in the cockpit. Again, you certain you are setting them correctly?

I have been through the manual more than once now.
I am arming the guns/cannons with a double left click and the switch is moving to correspond with the two clicks of the mouse. I know the aircraft is armed and loaded as when i load the ammunition the aircraft weight changes.
Rockets and bombs working ok. The tacpack manager is set for the keyboard which has assigned keys which work with the other tacpack aircraft . I have also tried a re download of tacpack....still the same.
Flight sim x is administrated.

Ok regarding the weight change, can you send a picture of the FSX fuel and payload manager? Specifically the payload section. Want to verify something there.

As I thought. The weight change you are seeing is actually the guns being unloaded. They are actually loaded by default on startup. You only need to unload/reload when you run out of ammo. You may also want to test and see if you can fire rockets or drop bombs.

Hello again.
I fully understand what you saying.I have always been able to drop the rockets and bombs but not the guns,
I have tried the guns as asked and it is still the same.(no effect seen on the ground or water}
So sorry to be a pain

If you load the aircraft up without touching the loadout manager, does the payload section in the FSX fuel and payload manager show 0 pounds?

Hi again, I apologise for all of this.
What i have seen on the payload and fuel manager is that, it is not as you mentioned.
1. The payload manager is at 0 when i load the aircraft See pic
2. As i load the guns the weight changes to correspond that weight of the ammunition.
3. If I then add the other weapons such as the rockets and the two bombs the weight changes again to correspond their weight as it should.
No problem so far.
4. The bombs and rockets fire and drop as they should no problem
5. If I now fire the guns (double lift click on the gun/camera switch) I have the gun effect of firing but NO effect on the ground. I have also noted that there is no lowering of the ammunition count in the payload manager.
Hope this helps. I will send you the manager sequence in the pictures.
Kindest regards

That's better. Can you send a screenshot while you fire at the ground please?
