License problem
Greetings.
I'm excited to try out the md530, but I've hit a snag. I installed everything as administrator, and have run the program as administrator. I have also uninstalled the addon and reinstalled it to make sure I made the correct version choice.
I am running P3D 3.4.9.18400, so I chose to install the version with P3D 3.x compatibility. However every time I launch a session with any of the MV MDs I receive the license error about the product being licensed for 2.5, and that FSX will now shut down. I don't recall receiving a license number or file, was it built into the installer?
I found this topic, but it didn't seem to have a DIY solution: viewtopic.php?f=107&t=4936&p=45246&hilit=license#p45246
Thanks for your help!

Re: License problem
It may be that you have an obsolete version of the Milviz_Sound.gau file. Try replacing this gauge in the sim's ..\Gauges folder:
Milviz_Sound.zip
Milviz_Sound.zip

Re: License problem
Blast. Unfortunately this did not solve the problem. I am still receiving the "You are running a product that is licensed only for use in Prepar3d v2. FSX will now shut down." (Verbatim this time)
EDIT: For further details, I have double checked my SimConnect libraries and reinstalled and made sure to install and run it as an administrator. There did not appear to be any windows error logs generated.

Look in the aircraft's ..\panel folder and make absolutely sure that there is no "Milviz_Sound.gau" in that folder. If that module is present, then it will override the one you just put in the ..\Gauges folder.Kat wrote:It may be that you have an obsolete version of the Milviz_Sound.gau file. Alas, there is no other 'milviz_sound' file in any of the \panel folders.

Okay, then the next step will be to edit the panel.cfg file and comment out the line that calls for the custom sound gauge. I don't have the MD530 installed here, but the gauge entry will look similar to this. Just put // at the beginning of the entry to disable it. Now try to load the MD530 and see if it still gives an error message:Fowlie wrote:Alas, there is no other 'milviz_sound' file in any of the \panel folders.
Code: Select all
//gauge00=Milviz_Sound!FBGS_XMLSound,

Re: License problem
After editing the panel.cfg file, as well as the other languages' panels (panel.fr,.gns,etc.) I am still receiving the error message. Here's the line:
Code: Select all
//gauge00=Milviz_Sound!FBGS_XMLSound, 0,0,1,1,SimObjects\\Rotorcraft\\MILVIZ_MD_530\\MD530XML_Sounds#30

Re: License problem
Then I am now officially baffled, since the error message is contained in that specific gauge module, and if you are still seeing it I sure don't know how!Fowlie wrote:After editing the panel.cfg file, as well as the other languages' panels (panel.fr,.gns,etc.) I am still receiving the error message.
I'll have to d/l and install the MD530 myself so I can see what's going on. I coded the sound module so I'm the best one to look into this matter, especially since the latest version doesn't even do a version check any more, which makes me wonder if the sound module is what is generating the error message. Do you have any other utility programs that might be causing the problem?
Can you provide a screenshot of the error message?

Here is a screenshot of the error: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0BykmZF ... sp=sharing
I don't believe I have any utility programs that might be interfering. I have recently installed mytraffic, but AFTER I started trying to run the MD530 so I doubt it is interfering. Other than that, I'm running vanilla P3D.

Re: License problem
Is it possible to get the error message from the Windows admin tools?
Control Panel->Administrative Tools->Event Viewer->Windows Logs->Application
Look for the latest P3D error and select it.
In the lower box, select the error details, copy them and paste them here as a reply to this thread

Re: License problem
There are no logs created by p3d, I verified this by refreshing the error log immediately after trying the md530 again.
I guess the error isn't registered as a windows error.

This particular error won't show up in the windows error logs. Please make sure there are no Milviz_Sound.gau/dll files in any of your panel folders or your gauges folder.

Re: License problem
This time I tried removing the milviz_sound.gau file from the /gauges folder. Still got the error message. All the panel.cfg files have the reference to milviz_sound commented out as well... weird.
As far as I can tell I've checked all the appropriate locations for more milviz_sound files but can't find any.

So no other ideas as to where this error might be originating? I found it weird I still got it when the milviz_sound.gau was deleted. Seems I might be SOL.

I don't know what else to try... Did it ever work?
