Sudden loss of one engine [Answered]

Post by maenixon » Sun Oct 04, 2020 1:20 am

Hi,

Twice the KA350i has suffered the complete shutdown of one engine - both times the right one - while in flight.
The Addon Management System shows this too.
I had been very careful not to exceed ITT on both engines while climbing, so I don't see why this has happened - twice.
Has anyone else had this problem and is there an explanation?

Could be due to simulated wear rate ~40x faster than normal. They degrade at rate of 1% each hour, even when handled with care.

Hi jarek,

I'm noticing on the present attempt to fly the same Flight that the right engine is showing slightly lower Torq, Oil Press & Temp than the left. This is in spite of both throttles being set to 94. The Addon Management system shows both engines as 'Good'.

Is this significant?

jared,

Correction to my last: The Oil Temps are L 67, R 70.

It’s realistic. Both engines don’t show same values in RL. In this case the right engine is more worn.

Regarding the engine shutdown, have you ever changed the time of day within a flight? That might affect some engine parameters.

As in real life, nothing is perfect ;-) and not essentially due to a wear. These are just two different engines. Output parameters are usually very close for both, but never 100% identical.

In this case the intention is to simulate a bit of extra wear. Right engine power coefficient is reduced, compared to left engine coefficient of 1.0.

Hi jarek & Tomas,

Thanks for your explanations. This KA350i is even more realistic than I had imagined.

How could I renovate the worn engine, assuming that is possible? Both Engine Stated are shown as 'Good'.

To simulate the costs of operating real aircraft, you have to re-buy the product whenever an engine fails!

You don't need to do anything. Your right engine failure is not related to this "wear" coefficient, but instead on how's the engine handled in different phases of flight.
