Range of PFD & MFD
Is there some way to change the range shown on the PFD & MFD?

Sure.
Turn the RANGE knob in the Display Control Panel, the left DCP to manage Pilot PFD & MFD (both change together); the right DCP for the Copilot PFD.

Is there a way to split the ranges of the left and center MFDs? That would be very handy.

Not possible.
Both Left PFD & MFD share the same symbol generator.
