I suggest not to use anything that touches PBR like ENVTEX and ENVSHADE etc until the KA is finished out of beta for V5. Out of curiosity are you using the new beta weather in V5 or the legacy weather ?

Chrome is also being worked on atm as it does not display the same in V5 as V4

I dont use ENVTEX and ENVSHADE at the moment and use ASp3d beta weather in V5

I am in direct contact with Milviz painter Gunnar V.A Meeren about the problem and he sad its P3D V5 problems that have to find a fix

I get the same issue in P3D 4.5, but only in the external spot view. The chrome spinners appear normal when viewed from the virtual cockpit. Stock install, no shader or other mods.

P3D version 5 handles PBR textures quite different from version 4.5. The black chrome texture is a known problem in v5. I have managed to make chrome effects both on the MV KA350i and on models from other developers (that had black chrome parts). I am not quite satisfied with the v5 chrome effects that I achieved. By now I think it is up to LM to make a better handling of PBR. In my opinion, P3D version 5 is still in beta stage.

The lightning system of version 5 may affect the chrome reflections. Try adjusting cloud settings (clear sky or by use of few cirrus clouds). Also try to uncheck "Dynamic reflections" in the settings inside the sim. DO NOT try to load the KA 350i with the feature "Enhanced Atmospherics" enabled. This will cause the sim to crash with a VRAM warning.

This is how it looks in version 5 on my rig (and I am using ENVSHADE)

The effects looks better in P3D version 4.5 as this version of the sim handles PBR better..

The chrome texture files that I am using are exact the same files that are in this installer.

Which makes no sense because the exterior and interior cones are identical and use the same texture... :o

Compare the difference. In the exterior view the chrome appears dull and gray compared to the bright shiny chrome in the interior view.

I'm not saying there's no difference in the sim, but the same material and texture logically should appear in both exterior and interior views.

That they don't suggests to me that there is a bug in P3D.

Could it be a mipmap issue or something to do with external camera views? Many external views since FSX cut certain elements or reduce quality. depending on the settings in the view category of the aircraft.cfg.... Specifically the clipmode setting has given me many heartaches in the past. I haven't played with it yet in V5 but clipmode = minimum was always a tradeoff to get more FPS in external views for reduced quality.

EZDok used to set that for every view and cause issues for people back in time.

I do use EZDok 3 so that is a possibility. In any case it isn’t a big deal, it’s more of a curiosity.
