Pilot Defined Waypoints and Airpoirts

Post by Bruce R » Tue Jun 23, 2020 5:30 am

I'm using W10, P3D V4.5 HF3. I've installed the K.A.350, V 1130. Lastly, I've read all the changes which comes with 1130.

Would someone please advise me;

1. Is it now possible to enter a pilot defined airport, ie, one that's not found by the FMS? If so, how?
2. Is it now possible to enter a defined waypoint and give it a name? If so, how?
3. Where the changes mention the ability to enter shorthand Lat & Long waypoints, what is the format?

I've certainly had a play around with the FMS but the points above stump me. With regards to question 1 above, I'm trying to enter the airport of Lady Elliot which is YLTT, This is a small island off the east coast of Australia adjacent to Bundaberg. YLTT is not known to the FMS.

Regards

I would send Navigraph an email and ask that that airport be incorporated into their database as that is the data that our FMS is using.

Check this thread you can find some in depth info:

https://milviz.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=99354#p99439

I would start with the FMS 3000 manual, that may answer your questions.

In the mean time I will ask if one of the devs can provide you a quicker answer.

I too would like to know if this is possible. I tried everything I could think of like P/B/D and lat/long. The fix page can provide *some* help but it's not what I'm needing. I've been flying in Africa with the King Air and there are a lot of airports not in the database. I've had to make some pretty creative flight plans to find some of my destinations. I'd love to know how to create temporary waypoints.

AFAIK it is not possible besides using fixes off known waypoints. Asking the experts again.

I've been looking at this manual;

http://hatcheraviation.com/uploads/Coll ... _Guide.pdf

in particular pages 7-31 and 7-32. With the Milviz KA350 FMS I can get to the described pages but when I enter a waypoint name in the IDENT, it just comes up as unauthorized entry. It will take the Lat and Long entries okay. It would be nice to know if this FMS will create pilot waypoints, and if so, how to.

Hi Bruce, I stand corrected. You can use pilot defined waypoints. I entered some via shorthand method directly into the flight plan and the system automatically names them PW1 PW2 etc. When I looked in the database, they are indeed saved. I just used the same document that you provided for the cessna and it seems to work. I don't know the format to type a pilot defined waypoint though but it looks like shorthand.

Coincidentally, I too stumbled on that exact manual a few days ago and read the same section. I haven't had time to fly the plane to try it though. Great to hear that it works!
