Import /Export Flt Plans

Post by ctmcewan » Wed Jun 10, 2020 9:10 am

Hi,

I refer to my previous question for which no and has been provided, in case it was missed can you advise if it is possible to Import saved Flt Plans saved in the P3D V4.5 capability allowing import in to the KA 350i FMS, similarly can you export flt plans saved in the A/C FMS manfully entered prior to flt.

You can save and restore flight plans that you entered manually into the FMS. I think this is on the second page of the menu ("Route index") under "Pilot routes" or similar.

You cannot directly transfer the default P3D flight plan into the FMS, or export it into that format. However, I have heard that Simbrief.com exports flight plans in both formats. So, if you want to avoid entering the flight plan manually into the FMS, planning your flight with Simbrief would be your best option.

Thank You Peter, good tip ref sim brief, just to further clarify my question excuse me I am pretty new to this subject in particular.

I have saved flt plans in .pln & .gfp formats saved in my computer DOCUMENTS P3DV4 Files, these definitely cannot be imported to the KA350i FMS

Many Thanks

At the moment, it is not yet possible to import flight plans created with SimBrief directly into the MVKA FMS.
You could use the TFDi 717 export format, however, it only works with DCTs between waypoints (so no airways are supported yet).

Also, at the moment you cannot convert P3D .pln or any other format to the MVKA FMS format.

The flight planes saved via the FMS ROUTE MENU page can be found in the folder "Prepar3Dv4\Milviz\MVKA350i\Routes".

They are simple XML files, and I'm currently working on a small external tool to create those files for the MVKA (mainly to be able to simulate real-life flight inspection procedures like VOR ARCs, ILS Alarm Limit Checks, Sector Coverage Flights and so on)

Maybe I will also implement flightplan conversion functions, but that is yet to be decided.

TL;DR: Until further notice, you have to enter the flight plan manually into the FMS (which is actually not too much work, and "as real as it gets" :)).

Cheers,
Chris

Correct. The KA350i is in this way similar to how the Majestic Dash 8 was. I was initially annoyed that I had to enter the flight plan manually in the Q400, but I quickly got used to it. Also, with turboprops, you usually do relatively short flights, so that there aren't too many waypoints to be entered.

As a general suggestion, make sure you have flight plans with airways. You then only have to enter the first waypoint on an airway on the right-hand side of the FMS, then the airway on the next line to the left, and then the last waypoint of the airway to the right.

Hi Chaps,

I really appreciate the recent replys you have provided ref questions regarding the FMS Flt Plans, it's much appreciated, also I should like to say haw much I am enjoying the KA 350i it is a challenge though not having a through user manual to give more detailed info on functionality of many features, I know you have produced video tutorials and they are helpful.

Any way well done Milviz on the A/C.

Thanks again
Charlie

Basically correct, but as mentioned before, all waypoints after the first airway leg are discarded when using the TFDi 717 format, so you carefully need to check the LEGS page before departure.
