RealLight texture size
Hi Guys,
After reading a couple of posts about downsizing RL/TG textures to 1024 etc to reduce VRAM usage, I notice that the RealLight texture files are anything from 4MB to 16MB. I was surprised for example to see even the annunciators texture file is 4MB and one of two textures for the side panel lighting is 16MB. I wonder if there is a way to compile these in smaller files and if that could be contributing to the excessive VRAM usage?
The only other aircraft I have to compare RealLight texture files with is the TFDi 717 and they seem to take up less than a 5th of the size in total to that of the KA350i. I appreciate they use the tech differently but wondered if that might be contributing? If the files are all loaded in the background that 600MB of textures, a 100MB model, the default textures are also 485MB on top of the model and actual livery etc. It seems possible at least that RealLight is contributing to the memory usage???
I'm no expert so please forgive me if that's out of the question!

Re: RealLight texture size
Reallight is one of the contributors to the high VRAM usage.
As You have found, the texture sizes for Reallight are substantially larger than those TFDi uses for the 717, and definitly one of the reasond for bad performance in the KA350i.
But even with Trueglass and reallight disabled the VRAM usage is very high.
I have tried to reduze the 4K textures to 2K, but with not much of a reduction of VRAM usage, so the issue must be in the way they are used, or in the model itself.
Right now I have Trueglass at 2048x2080 and Reallight at 1024x1024, though reallight looks very bluured when turned on.
I also had to reduce Texture resolution to 1024x1024 in P3D V4.5 itself inorder to get acceptable VRAM usage.
I hope they find what causes this, but Reallight is a first stopover for further investigation.
