HF2, The cords that hold the door arent visible from the VC
Hi!
Just to let you know of a small bug in the VC: If you're in the VC and you go to the back of the plane and open the door, the cords that hold the door arent visible.

They actually are telescoping hand rails and indeed did have their animating bones disconnected. I fixed this last week so it will be included in the next HF or SP.

Are you the one who did the external and VC model?

Not completely. Another team member created the major mesh and does the texture mapping. I and several others do the "fit and finish" work by animating stuff, writing the animation scripts, and making any necessary repairs and/or minor changes with the mesh model itself.
Milviz has one of the largest teams in this industry...

Well let me tell you that everyone who worked on the model (both vc and external) is worthy of high praise!
I often find myself looking at the model and drooling... just changing the camera angles. It looks amazing indeed. One of the best models out there for sure.
Now we just need some bugs squashed

Bill,
Unless this is an airplane I am unfamiliar with every King Air has the encapsulated cables that run through a riser on the door to provide the handrails. You can see it in the background of this video.

This is a C90 but it is the same door cables that Beech has used for decades. The 350 generally uses 2 cables where the 90 just shows 1 cable. The second cable was added to reduce the twisting on the piano hinge at the base of the door. Many 90s, 100s, and 200s have upgraded to the dual cables.

Thanks Ken, that's nice to know. Even had I known this at the time, it would have been an difficult task to animate all of the bones necessary to create smoothly folding 'cords' as shown in the C90 video.

I didn't even think about how to animate cables. The fact that you took the time to animate anything on the door is a plus. Thank you.

The biggest issue with bones is that there is a hard limit on the number of bones in any given project. As it is currently animated, a total of 16 bones are used (8 per side). It would require at minimum 20 bones per side to get something close to the look of the flexible 'cords'.
