ITT and pressure

Post by Heronjr » Sun Feb 09, 2020 4:40 am

I will bring this issue again because it was not answered and it is happening until HF2:

When starting the engines, sometimes the ITT needles go to the red region and sometimes don’t. I always use GPU and a fresh P3D start in a cold and dark situation. So, the conditions are the same.

Normally, the left engine is started first, but I tried starting the right engine first and the problem persisted.

Now, another mystery: when the ITT needles go red while starting engines, the pressure red light comes on when passing through 16000ft to cruise normally at FL210 or FL220.

This process degrades heavily the engines so the MVAMS should be used before the next flight to fix the aircraft.

I have had this too. A couple of times I assumed I had ingested the engine covers but thought I had already removed them.

Well, my MVAMS situation options set have only the Cold and Dark item marked. The engine covers are default now?

Hi,

Excessive ITT on startup might have these causes:

- Fuel added too early, for example engaging starter with Condition Lever already in Low Idle position.
- Starter disengaged before engine is near to stable ( > 50 % N1).
- Starting an engine that was shut down previously, while residual ITT remains high.

Try to detect if any of these conditions might have happened.

None of the above conditions occurred here. I have just confirmed that, in MVAMS, only the Cold & Dark option is marked, as well as only Pilots is marked in Visuals. I did the following and it worked perfectly twice:

I loaded the B350i with Cold & Dark option marked. When loaded, I went to the P3D/B350i menu and turned ON and OFF the Engine Covers, and proceeded to start the engines. Everything worked well, with needles not going to the red region.

So now I assigned Pitot Covers OFF, Engine Covers OFF and Chocks OFF to the Saitek button I use to turn on the battery and engage the GPU.

I think maybe some condition is simulating the Engine Covers ON but they are "invisible", so we must manually turn them ON and OFF to start the engines. This is simply a shot in the dark.

I don't think that engine covers are the problem.

I would suggest two things:

1) Go to MVAMS, select Current Conditions, save and quit.
Run P3D, in Scenario Start Screen, select the KA, then the airport, and load the flight.
Once the KA is running stable, shut the engines and all systems to obtain a Cold and Dark situation.
Wait a couple of min and save that flight.
Go to MVAMS and select Cold & Dark. Save.
Run P3D and now from Scenario Startup window go to Load a flight and select the one previously saved.
After that you can change the airport/time, season, etc before running it.

2) Check your Wx addon, might be possible that it is sending unusual high OAT? Very doubtful but worth the checking .
