Framerate issues - frame rate collapses
I also bought this beautiful airplane. Unfortunately I am disappointed about the very bad frame rates.
In complex airplanes like PMDG, FSLabs or the FlyThe Maddog I have 30-40 frames in the cockpit and about 50 frames in the exterior view.
In King Air I only get a maximum of 20 frames in the interior and exterior. During the flight the framerate drops even further to about 15 frames. So flying is not possible anymore.
I hope you manage to improve the plane.
Best regards
Andreas

Yes the FPS can be unstable at times. Personally I was not able to find a constant scenario when this happens.

Re: Framerate issues - frame rate collapses
Hey there,
i got the same issues at my system with the KA350i. PMDG, Maddog and Majestic are fine.. but the KA350 aren't very smooth.
Any news for this?
Thanks.

What is your system status?
I have never had a problem (locked in nVidia at 30 and holding steady) running a mid-tier i7 4770K oced to 4.3Ghz, GTX1070FE, 16GB RAM, and two 1TB SSDs.

Re: Framerate issues - frame rate collapses
Done.
Sim is P3D (v4.5.12.30293) on a FullHD Screen. AA is at 8xMSAA. I tried to deactivate TrueGlass, Dynamic Lightning, Vsync. GFx settings are quite medium.
If i switch the Avionics on.. The framerate drops further down until 10fps. That can't be correct compared to the other Aircrafts i have.
Edit:
I saw that the versions aren't up to date, so i updated my KA350i and P3d to the newest version... and the framerate raises from 10 to 20. Quite better, but i guess it could be better with my system stats.

Re: Framerate issues - frame rate collapses
I'm having the same issue here. With the plane in cold and dark situation i have around 25~32 fps. When i turn on the avionics, FPS drops to 9~20. If i disable "render to transparent surfaces" option, my FPS becomes much better, but i lose the windshield rain effects (not nice). I have PMDG 737 NGXU with windshield effects running a lot smoother (more than 30 fps) than the king air. Something needs to be corrected.
My PC Specs:
Ryzen 5
16GB RAM
GTX 1060
SSD 250Gb (Windows)
SSD 250Gb (Prepar3d)
Regards

frmdes is right. If i turn off this render option in MVAMS the frames are sometimes better, but mostly still at 15-20fps.

Re: Framerate issues - frame rate collapses
C'mon guys.. its a 80US A+ product. Would be very poor.
I found out that if i delete and reinstall the KA350i i have best frames on the first session (30+), even if i switch on the avionics. But if i do another session, the frames are worse again (15fps). I tried deactivate reallight and trueglass... does'nt matter.

Re: Framerate issues - frame rate collapses
I've been noticing that sometimes when i open the simulator and load the aircraft, my FPS its reasonably acceptable, like 25~32 FPS. But sometimes, when i load the aircraft without making any changes in graphics or something like that, my FPS drops to 15 or less (same scenery, same weather, same everything). I don't know what might be happening just exiting and loading the sim again, but it is changing my FPS without any reason, making things very unstable.
Regards.

Re: Framerate issues - frame rate collapses
I have PMDG aircraft, also Maddog from LSH, and find similar performance from the KA350 as these on my system. Regrettably, the 3D engine powering Prepar3D isn't exactly stellar, so everything is a trade-off between performance and visual quality. With P3D, the things that will destroy your FPS are number of polygons rendered, the number of autogen objects drawn, and ultimately everything related to lighting and shadows as well as the size of your VRAM.
Firstly, try turning off weather, and with it, clouds (try a flight with "Clear skies"). This will most certainly improve your FPS dramatically. Then try to introduce weather and clouds with a maximum layer count of 3 in Active Sky, and also cloud texture size 512 x 512 instead of HD or 4K textures. You will hardly notice the difference in quality. Furthermore, I use texture size 2048 x 2048 in P3D. This will save VRAM which in turn increases FPS. Be careful with shadow settings, for instance, let clouds only cast shadows and not receive.
It's quite possible that MilViz can increase FPS by decreasing the poly count in the cockpit, but I don't think there's a massive gain to be found there. The refresh rates of the PFD and ND play a part, of course. You really don't need more than about 15-18 frames per second on those, it will still look fluid.
My system: Win10, P3D 4.5 HF2, 32 GB RAM, i-6700K @ 4.2 GHz, GTX 1070 w/8 GB VRAM. REX cloud textures, Active Sky weather engine.

Re: Framerate issues - frame rate collapses
I also noticed that the frame rate is very dependent on the scenery and weather.
I compared with PMDG 737 NGSu. It has 5 FPS below than KA350.
I have an average FPS of 35 on the ground and 45 in flight.
Keep in mind that this is the best aircraft in its segment.

Test FPS 4K
Cold&Dark + after start + take off
Fast start and take off.

Re: Framerate issues - frame rate collapses
Hi bmw969 & terjekj,
i did a test with following stats: FullHD, default airport EDDW, 2048x textures, 8xMSAA, no weather, no traffic, medium scenery and terrain, low shadow setting..
Hardware in signature.
Cockpit: 14-19fps
Outside: 14-20fps
Majestic, PMDG, Aerosoft in same conditions... stable 30fps (locked).
Now tell me if its normal or not.
(anyway.. its possible to get my money back? its my first Milviz product and now I have such an experience with the support

Re: Framerate issues - frame rate collapses
Hi @kplanet,
What's your monitor's native refresh rate? My monitor has a native rate of 60 Hz, which equals to 60 frames per second. I have P3D locked to that number.
Try setting P3D to run at your monitor's native refresh rate. See if that helps your FPS. Technology can be odd sometimes...
If you need to lower it, always divide the rate with 2. Eg. 120 Hz gives 60 Hz et cetera.
