"reset initial POS" FMS message
Hello,
I am new to this style of FMS and am unsure about the "reset init pos" message in the fms. The IRS appears aligned when starting from the before engine start state, but even after entering my inital GPS location I still get this message. Is there a way to delete this or does this mean my IRS system is still not aligned?

Re: "reset initial POS" FMS message
Hi, just overwrite the pos ini setting with the same coordinates once again, then the message disappears.

Re: "reset initial POS" FMS message
You get this message when your new FMS position is more than 50miles from the last known position. E.g. when you change the airport from the one you flew to last time you will get this message. This is a correct modell of the FMS 3000 functions.
I hope I could clarify this for you.

Re: "reset initial POS" FMS message
This message is very, very rare in the actual airplane and is suppressed in most Full Flight Simulators.
The only time you might see it in the airplane is installing a new FMS. (Maybe if someone forcefully buggered up an FMS.)
In the FFS this is suppressed by the Rockwell-Collins software rehost since simulators are repositioned all of the time.
The message simply means that the position that you last shut down the FMS and the position that you just initialized are significantly different. Please confirm the position. Think of it as a Windows "Are you sure message."
Copy and past the position back in to confirm the initialization, as stated above.
