Request for some piloting guidance

Post by metzgergva » Mon Jan 06, 2020 3:33 pm

Hi,
This is a request to Ken, if he could help and give us some guidance on proper procedures/sequencing (power/RPM settings and flaps/gear settings) during a "typical" approach and landing on an ILS and a visual pattern landing?
Appreciate input for properly flying this great plane!

As a desktop KA simmer I use this for Visual app:

ARRIVAL
TRQ appr. 30%
150-175 KIAS
Start "before landing CL"

DOWNWIND LEG
Flaps - Approach
130-140 KIAS

ABEAM THR:
Gear down
Complete "before landing CL"

BASE LEG
Min. 130 KIAS

FINAL
130-140 KIAS (Vyse MIN)
when committed to land:
Flaps - down
Bleed speed off to Vref
YD OFF
Props full fwd

At THR:
Speed - VREF
Power - Idle

LANDING
Ground fine or Rev.
Apply brakes as necessary

Hello,

Thank you for this, very useful, but I have a question....

Many references here and in the manual to 'Vref', but for the life of me I cannot find Vref defined anywhere in the manual, or here, is there a table defining Vref for various weights, or even just one fixed Vref for this aircraft, and if so, where can I find it please?

Many thanks,

Steve F.

That flight guidance is a nice comprehensive summary and will be helpful for everyone with little experience on how to fly large turbopros. The landing chart was the final piece missing together with Ken's cruise information.

As for the first one, I think the power settings and sequence of putting down flaps and gear just need to be verified by Ken to be valid for the 350i.
Thank you for the link and the chart

Very good! Hope these charts find their way into an updated manual with the Service Pack 1...
